*sigh* You actually got me teared up on that one. You're alright kid. Not everyone marches to the same drummer. I went through the
forbidden "Magic :The Gathering" and anti -Sabbath times, but I realized my kids had more common sense than I gave them credit for and they weren't going out raping old ladies so if that kept them home and made them happy-- to each his own.
We all quit smoking weed and Wally's going to a nuke 'boomer' sub soon. I think some things just need to be realized for what they are. A lot of parents don't do that unfortunately. They don't know what they're missing and the way they're pushing their kids away. I sort of felt that way growing up, too.
I don't know all your circumstances, but you probably still love your folks. That's the way it is generally. I did love my folks but sometimes I couldn't stand them . It took a very long time for me to understand why they did some of the things they did, some right and some wrong. Some of which I wouldn't do with my kids. But like I said, you be good to you and never sell yourself short on your abilities.
