No its the fact that people are taking the english language and fucking it up. Is it that hard to speak right? Why say "da crunkest" and "dat foo" etc...They mean NOTHING. Its ignorant people who are too lazy to speak properly.

And saying ebonic obsessed is very true. Black people get to caught up in their pride but if white people do it its racist. Yes, whites had blacks for slaves and that was wrong but no one who is black living today is going through that. So why have all this black pride shit. Example, BET and black college funds and hiring signs saying "minorities only" and black history month. Not to mention the fact that 90% of the shit coming out of black people is about black/white issues.

I don't affiliate every black dude, kid with baggy clothes, ect I see to rap. There is a "Hip-Hop culture" and thats what I was reffering too. Im not racist in anyway shape or form. I am critiquing the image of the hiphop culture and not the skin coulor of the people in it. Its very annoying that every time I say something negative about anything that is concerning a minority, I get labeled a racist.

Im a big Reggae fan too. Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Scientist, Suffocation, Tom Morello + RATM are all people in the music biz that are of diffrent minorities that I dig. The skin color of the people in the music have nothing to do with it, its what they sing about. Alot of these "rap gods" have alot of influence on kids and they are not

If all you get from my comments are racist feed back then I'll try to be more clear; I feel that the "hiphop culture" that is projected on to people that is self-destructive and bilgerant. Hundreds of kids feel like they must live up to the famous role model rappers who only speak of lust, money, crime, pot, and liquor. And they try to hard to. I see it everyday. What is the point of ebonics? To segregate themselves from other races? It's just sloppy jibberish.

but i thought it was suspicious, because hip hop cannot have a culture. Culture is a set of beliefs that a certain racial, religious, or social group possesses.
Hip hop is not a group of people, or a person. it is a genre of music.

There's a japanese culture: a culture which Japanese people possess.....mexican culture, canadian culture...

It doensn't make sense to me for Hip Hop to have a culture.

So that's why I implied that you had a implicit hatred towards Blacks in that first post.


but on the other hand, i do see what you're talking about when you say "hip hop culture". There is an attitude among certain people (Blacks especially) that becoming a rap/basketball star= more money. More money = more bling bling. More bling bling = being crunk all the time, ohhh yeah *drops 'bows*.

you can't blame some of those kids though, the ones that grow in poor urban areas; projects, "ghettos" etc (ahem, not the ones living cozily in the suburb), they dream of a better life (escalades, timberlands, gaudy jewelry), and they can relate to some of those rappers, 'cause those rappers had some skill, some hard work maybe and had a bit of luck so they pulled themselves out from the "hood".
they may be belligerent and materialistic, but at least they think that their dreams will come true if they work hard enough. btw, if you looked at all those traits you listed in a different perspective, you could see them as being good.

and you gotta realize that those are mainstream rappers; their music sucks and so do their ideals. just like nu-metal; they write crappy lyrics, and have a bad influence on kids too. The entire genre isn't like that though.


and Ebonics; i think that's a pride in your heritage thing. I guess that slaves used to talk in ebonics to each other so that their masters wouldn't understand what they were saying, they would think it was sloppy gibberish.
But you'd have to ask a real Black person about that though. i'm not Black, no matter what Def thinks

they used to sing songs to keep the masters from understanding, not ebonics. I'm not sure but I think ebonics were created to help rappers rhyme easier. I just don't understand why black people can have all these "black" things and not be labeled racist. What if there was White Entertainment TV and white history month and what if people could say a black joke in public and not be labeled racist. If a black dude does it its funny as hell though. How long is the world gonna be like this? To me it seems like they payed us back good enough already for their pasts. I just don't see how everyone thinks society is equal when infact it isn't at all. And I am really really high. I'm gonna go get higher.
