Soulseek, FTPs and a slightly better idea
Alright, I know we've had the FTP and the Briefcase thing in the past, neither lasted awfully long. The FTP was mainly because of my lack of time, but that's beside the point. Why don't you guys minimize the sometimes irritating FTP issues and all install Soulseek?
http://www.slsknet.org
Install it, set it up, and post your username here. Just use the thread to post your name so everyone can add you and discuss who has what and so on. Rather than 100 people sucking down on one man's bandwidth you can browse everyone's shit.
Just a thought. Carry on.

Well, I tried soulseek once, all it did was piss me off because it was slow and crashed every time. I dunno what that was or if there's better versions available now.
I'm not too fond of file sharing applications anyways, but I guess it works too, however the bandwith thingy of an ftp server would be better, right? and, it'll be available all the time, since we're all in different time zones and shit, a 24/7 server thing would be ideal.

soulseek is better:
1) your connected to international users who have already registered a long time ago, instead of just the few users here that will use the IRC.
2) many users share the same file, so if one user has a slow bandwidth, you could search for the same file and get it from someone with a faster connection.

Very impressed with your extential, yet very widely known information about file-sharing apps...

Well if anyone is interested, my username is Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas. I'm sharing roughly 3000 files. Or, just PM me for account details to my FTP. It's on a remote server, so it's up 24/7.
