I got a question here. Right now the band I am in is a 3 piece studio only project. However due to all of our time contraints. I do everything (all writing, playing, recording, etc.) when making demos. I am okay with this cuz we are all friends and it really works better this way in the end (rather than meet up, have me explain how it is played, and on and on).

Now that I have a full studio, and soon to have total cd production in my place, I wanna get more involved with others. I am actually thinking about putting out an ad in the paper for someone who plays something, and more importantly, can write. I want a Valor to my Rozz. This poses problems though cuz I know from experiance that ads usually do not work. It would be hard to meet someone that would get so involved.

Maybe if I just start putting my demo out, I can somehow meet someone, i dunno. Or if a band is looking for a keys player, I might just join a live band.

Either way, I hate putting out ads, they suck and almost never work, but I don't have any other instrument playing friends.

yeah, that sucks...doing all the work yourself.
if i started a band, i'd be in the same rut. i'd have to
single-handedly handle everything, i can honestly say
i have not met one, NOT ONE person in all my life with the
potentail that i look towards. also, as much as i want a band,
on the other hand, i'd rather not, cause the work involved...
recording, writing, sound, dedication. i wouldn't go through
with it until i got someone to help back me up. eh, just keep
encouraging your mates to help, or kick 'em out. there's no reason
they should even be in your band, from what you say about them.

Eh, a much more costly way would be to hook up with someone from far away and they could send you shit through the mail...but...yeah, forget I said anything.

So my answer is no.

Sorry for any confusion, here is the basic question.

I wanna have another me in my band. Should I put out an ad? Or is such a position to big to fill with an ad person? Were talking about a songwriter/any instrumentalist for a studio band. They will help record, there will be no live shows. I only have a few instrument playing friends, and none with my dedication.

I play everything, record it, mix, produce, album design, EVERYTHING. Two demos done, I wanna start getting people involved.
