I've been to some of the biggest gothic web sites on the internet and none of them have a consistent, universal or even coherent definition of what a "gothic" is. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a label. End of story. Just another group of people starving for attention. There's nothing unique, interesting, mysterious or inherently intellectual about these pseudo-intellectuals. What's the point? Why don't these people get their own opinions and stop trying to fit into the rules of a group they didn't invent. Uncreative, un-innovative and most of all uninteresting. The whole "tortured artist" facade is tired.

I think it's great how all the kids think they're being different from the masses by dressing in fishnets and black and white makeup.....in the meantime, goths (and today's punks too, since they dress basically the same) are one of young-society's fastest growing social groups. Yeah.
I used to have the mindset that i didn't want to be like everyone else. I was never a goth, punk or anything really "popular"...i just classified myself as metalhead....but now i don't give a shit what i'm classified as. And really it doesn't matter, people should act and be the way they feel is best......if someone honestly feels that fishnets and black/white makeup is the way for them, then all the best to them.....but i garentee about 99% of goths out there don't REALLY want that.....they might believe it because they've been lying to themselves about it for god knows how long, but deep inside i'm sure most of them just wanna dress, or act "normal", by that i mean being themselves.

I agree with the majority of statements here , i usually wear black and sometimes some 'add ons' but if i dress that way its because i like it really , im not following any trend , one day i pop up with the typical leather trenchcoat and the next day with tight jeans , combat boots and burzum tshirt.
Apart from that , it is not the way u dress what makes you 'goth' i know many people who dont use makeup or dress in black everyday and they have a much more dark (AND CREATIVE) personality than your average mall goth...

I hate goths. When I see a goth, they automaticly tell me that lick balls and take it in the ass.
