PS2 is great, the its biggest fault is......IT NEEDS 4 CONTROL SLOTS!!!! NOT THAT CHEAP ASS 4 PLAYER...THINGY...THAT YOU HAVE TO BUY....i think theyre both pretty good. PS2 has been around much longer in gaming and so the companies are older and more experienced so its got the quality games like Final Fantasy for RPG fans and DOA and Tekken for the fighters and Gran Turismo for racers. X Box titles arent that great to me....only few like Halo and stuff. whats good is X Box has a hard drive so you can put massive stuff on there like Morrowind (GOOD GAME!) and Unreal Championship and it even works as a memory card. but then its kind of ruined now because i heard they were making a Morrowind for PS2 and a Fable for PS2 after it comes out for X Box. but whatever, it will look even shittier on PS2 then it does on X Box so no one will buy it! ha! id say both systems are pretty equal. X Box has a better processor though for graphics and stuff. just needs good companies to use X Box's great attributes, like they did for Morrowing, using the hard drive space. if Squaresoft would cross over to X Box it would be the shiz in graphics, but no they went to gay Nintendo, their home company...yeah...im rambling now....ill just add to whatever the rest of you say

As for the controllers Doctor it's really unappropriate for fighting games.

PS2 is far greater. It has so many great games (like FFX, GTA, Tekken)... Xbox graphics are sharper but that doesn´t mean there better, if you look at a basketball game(forgot the name) then you really see the difference between the backgrounds and the players. while on PS2 its one whole.... Plus to play DVDs you don´t have to buy a remote (30 euro). But the harddisk is handy.... plus I find the controller to be too big...

yeah, ps2 controlers need to be bigger I think. What I did with mine was I put duct tape around the part you put your hands on. Now its a huge controller with a lot of padding and absorbs your sweat. As for overall consoles, I only like the game Halo for X Box...thats not enough for me to buy. I prefer the ps2 because of the DVD player

PS2 has more games, well duh because they've been out longer, but I think the real winner will be XBox. I mean screw the graphics, its about the games. I think if you give Xbox enough time they will have games "comparable" with PS2 even though they already have a few good ones out.

Xbox is longer out then the gamecube but GC has more games....

Thanks for your insights. The reason I posted is because a friend and I keep arguing about which is better. I personally am loyal to PS2. I have stuck by them since PS1.

Ok...I was reading some "technical" article about the creation of games. There are many things that make up a video game. Such as graphics, camera control, enemy AI, Fmv and , Fma "movies". Beefing up the graphics (xbox) will take away fromsomething else. A good example is Splinter Cell. That game has awesome graphics on the Xbox. Some of the best I have ever seen sice Altered Beast
Playing through the game I found it to be much easier than on the PS2. Basically I found it much more fun to play and it also has replay ability. Im sure I left out some other stuff so I will try to find the mag I read it in. Also the above was just my opinion. Many of you may disagree. I just say check it out for yourself.

PS2 fans listen up! I saw on tv that sony has unveiled the PSX. It's a more updated version of the PS2. They didn't say much about it but, it sounds cool so far. It had the built in network adapter, a 120 gig hard drive, a cd and a dvd recorder. Socom 2 will be out soon and it looks sooooo good. Metal Gear 3 a bit later.

you guys are forgetting the PSP, playstation portable.

They both have awesome games. Halo, Gta VC, MGS etc. but I like my gamecube because it has Metroid Prime, Zelda and Rouge Leader. I do want an X-Box though, Star Wars: Knight Of the Old Republic looks awesome and I want it.

Soul Calibur 2 will be out in August I think. They all have an extra character depending on the system. Ps2 gets Heihachi from tekken. Yeah you know the guy with the gay hair. Xbox gets spawn Shitty. If I remember correctly Gamecube gets Necrid.

X box is a great machine because of its modified Geforce 3 ti 500 chip....
Which is 3 times better than what I have (geforce 2 MX400).

The PSX games i played on PS2 (FF9, Soul Reaver...that's it) sucked. The colours seemed brighty, but coarser too. Wasn't smooth like on the PSX.

Also certain scenes in FF9 would make my screen skip, and sometimes those scenes caused the colours to invert for quite a while, making me very mad.

My tv isn't the greatest.....but i had no problems playing on the original PSX. The game(s) actually looked pretty awesome on just the original PSX, but on PS2 they're pretty not awesome.

And i still would like to get a PSOne....those look sweet man!

My friend left his hear for the last year or so and it does rule. Small, compact, and lightweight. Not to mention the flip up screen and the fact that you can hook it up into any car! PS2 has a screen also, not sure if is car compatable though.
