Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a lot of the metal crowd used to be really into punk rock. Except, of course, those who were raised on the old stuff. But it seems like this applies a lot with people in metal bands. When I started playing metal, I was really into punk, but I think that when you start playing hardcore, you realize how lazy the punk rockers are and how crappy and unsophisticated it can be. No offense to the punk rockers. But I know a lot of local bands from my area, many of whose members used to be heavily into the punk scene.

Just an observation. Disagree if you like.

i remember this one canadian guy produced novelty toilet paper that had Bin Laden's face on it.

i noticed instead of punk, many people in my area were more into alternative before they got into metal.

before metal, i was into nu metal, i will confess. Before nu metal i didn't listen to music. Korn was my first actual CD i bought for me and my own self.

edit: after thinking about it, i bought a deftones CD first, then i bought a korn one later on.

yes, it was white pony. But no, can't shoot myself, I have always found white pony to be their best, its not just straight on bullshit like adreneline and around the fur. But when i bought white pony, it was only cause i liked that one song, i knew nothing more about the deftones.
