So long dear friend. You will be missed.
As many know, Jeff of Slayer has passed. A very sad day in the metal world, love or hate Slayer. One of my personal guitar heroes I will never get to meet.
I would like to remember Jeff for all the great music.

RIP brother, one of the most influential bands of all time. Not to mention the greatest.

Man, I hadn't seen what the liver failure was caused from. That's so unbelievably sad. RIP.

I was never a big fan of Slayer, but it's always sad when a talented musician passes.

No, I don't think so. Think if your family or fans said such a thing when it wasn't you.

Life time of drinking and drinking while fighting systematic infection along with hard core pain killers, but I only speculate. He had a good deal of mass taken out of his picking arm and skin graphs. Seems like years of hurt. Plus, he wasn't an active part of Slayer anymore. That was his life! Jeff wrote all the greatest Slayer songs. It all ends one day.

A sad loss indeed. I don't care for Slayer that much post-Divine Intervention but the band might as well have died along with Jeff's passing.

They just released the cause of death wasn't from the bite but from cirrhosis of the liver. He did have the other problems, but this was basically just from drinking.

Considering the hardcore drugs for the spider bite he must have taken on top of drinking, that seems about right. He didn't have any active roll in Slayer and I'm guessing a lot of pain. I wouldn't be surprised if he was drinking and doing treatment at the same time. Some of those drugs are harder on the liver than drinking.
Drinking, spider bite, treatment, can't play with band, and the stress. I really wish I could have told him I loved his music.

Well, for what it's worth. He died knowing he helped shape a band whose fans have become a cultural phenomena.

I feel the same. I always liked Jeff better as a guitarist and songwriter, too.
That being said, I always liked Kerry a lot, too. He seems like a very cool guy, friendly, does most of the media work for Slayer, and on top of that he breeds carpet pythons.
I would have loved to have met both of them. I'm glad I at least got to see them play before Jeff died.
