If you're talking about RSE's drums, that has to do with the intensity of which the notes are played. This also affects the guitars and bass, but not quite as much. Anyway, if you want your drums to sound more consistent like a metal drummer, just set everything to forte fortisimo. The sound itself will be louder, but the actual sound of the drums will be more consistent, and the guitars palm mutes and shit sound more brutal.

Some more tips on good-sounding RSE;

Innards is right, make everything forte fortissimo (fff), but with the cymbals, I always make them sound softer. Forte for all cymbals, except when your riding the crash, then I do those hits as mezzo-forte, and the china as mezzo-piano always. Also, if you want a heavier bass drum sound, use both bass drum tab numbers, 35 and 36, on top of each other (except for gravity blasts). This way you won't have to turn the low equalization up and you still have good-sounding toms.

As far as which guitar tone to use, I choose Metal Kirk Rhythm fr both lead a rhythm. I used to use the "boosted" tone for bass, but, I've switched it to "Zakk Time Acoustic" and it sounds much heavier (with the jazz bass, it sounds cooler). With clean guitars, I'll either use the default setting or I'll just use midi (Midi in cases where the RSE CPU % is gaying out on me). For drums, I use the acoustic set with the compressed tone.

Equilization; for guitars, I always max out low and high and turn down the mid all way. For the PRE, it varies with each song, but between 2 and 3.

For bass, I max out the low, and I usually have the mid on 0 or lower, and the high on 0 to 1. Again, PRE is varied.

For drums: Low 4-5, Mid 0, High 3, PRE 2-3.

For the whole song, I turn down the master volume to 1 bar, use the "Surround-drummer stage" reverb, and the "Presence" equalization.

After cleaning out all the dust in my hard drive, my computer has been working faster, so I've reinstalled the RSE banks. Not as good as it was when I first got Guitar Pro, but not as crappy as it was when my computer started burning out on me.
