I thought the movie played out really well as a whole, and I'm not a Tolkien purist by any means, I seriously have no interest in his books. I like fantasy movies, and judged it as such.
The editing disappointed me during the Helms Deep battle. The director cut away from the action too often, and to less important scenes.

Fuck no, the only copies out there are telesyncs and cams by FTF, TCF and some other shitty upstart release team. NONE of them are anywhere near a quality that would be worthy of a DVD. When TCF releases the DVD screener in a few weeks/months, that's when I'll download it myself and burn the DVD. I'll still snatch it up when New Line releases the official DVD as well, can't beat a pure transfer and all the extras.
One more thing, don't try selling copyrighted movies to people here.

I had the fellowship of the rings dvd at home but watching it at home is less fun then in the cinema...

I really didnt care for it. The only parts that I found the least bit amusing was when the green thing was talking to himeself and they had different screen shots on him - and how he'd always call the fat hobbit the fat hobbit. Haha, what a classic. Oh, yeah... and the tree part near the end of the movie... it makes me wish that I was an envorimentalists - not.

The movie was good, but the book was way better.
The movie actually pissed me off a bit because it lacked a lot of what was cool in the book. The Ents definitally were one of the best parts of the film.

I saw it twice.
I laughed like hell because of Gimli in Helms doom.
But they changed to of the plot in the movie. I'd like to have more from the ents and huorns and less from this fucking love story.

This was THE disappointment of the year 2002.
Very loosely based on the book, I think Tolkien is rotating in his grave.
But good if you try to not think about the book.
The positive sides were the Ents and Gollum.

I never liked god damn reading anyway.
No one's talked much about Sam in this thread. I think Sam was awesome, he kicked Gollum's ass, and talked about eating all the time, at least in the first one (memory's not what it used to be...). Anyway, kicking ass and eating food, if he was a drunk, he'd be me.

Wait till the 3rd movie......well, that is if Jackson keeps it anywhere close to the book. You'll be pleased.

Ok. heres some funny shit about LOTR movies. Go check this out dudes but don´t take it too seriously. They shoud be read in order.
www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/
I think the book was better than the movie. But the first movie was fuckin awesome. There was too many comical sections in Two towers . Who can take seriously the scene where legolas swings himself on the horse or when he slides down the stairs with a shield. God damn that babyface!

I also liked that scene (horse scene).
Tolkien makes in clear in the books that Elves can be quite fast.....so that scene made perfect sense if you paid attention reading the books.

I read "the hobbit" first. My sister told me to. Then "the lord of the rings". And i'm thinking of reading the books about the old races.
And i played the roleplay.

a true disapointment for me they did not tried to do something different from the book
it's just copy and paste
The battle is so untrue I had to laugh or weep I don't know.
seems like tolkien wasn't a true strategist.
hopefully I did not pay to see it

Nearly the whole fight from Helms doom is different from the book. There were no elfes. I missed the huorns, at least the forest where the last orks run into. Then i missed Erkenbrand, if his called this way in the english version. And Eomer was in Helms doom and didn't came with Gandalf. Even the decision of the ents was described in another way in the book.

There is no way that anyone could adapt that story to the screen while keeping every intricate, stupid little detail intact. The director interpreted the books in his own way, and has done a great job in outlining all the necessary storypoints and characters.
"Oh fuck! Aragorn isn't supposed to jerk Legolas off with one hand! Tolkien specifically wrote that Aragorn would handle Legolas' elven shaft with 2 hands and work him to an intense and almost dwarf-like elvish orgasm!"
All it takes is one net nerd to start the critical negative ball rolling, that's all the the average mouse clicker needs to voice his own opinion--SOMEONE ELSES. One motherfucker bags it, and soon after he has an army of idiot net cunts saying the exact same motherfucking thing. This may come across as me being some twisted, die-hard Rings movie eccentric who hates the books, but it's not. I'm only tired of the same old shit here, if you guys are gonna slag the flicks at least gather your own opinions instead of repeating what every other jackoff does and thinking you're in some secret "cool" club.
Of course this doesn't apply to all of you who've posted in this thread, I'm sure those of you I'm talking about it know it.
