I don't know if Barack is actually going to be able to change much, as far as the economy goes, or even follow through on alot of what he wanted to do, but I do know that him winning is one of the best things to happen in history, and that he can't possibly do worse than President Bush did.

If anything, this shows that anyone of any color in the US can succeed, and that our country has finally moved on to realize that race is not something that should divide us.

That said, I'm pretty sure some hypocritical people will want to leave the country because of him winning, which is fine. I just hope they can find somewhere peaceful and quiet to complain. (I doubt Canada wants them though).

I'm glad Obama won as I really do think he is the better candidate and I felt that the progress of Science would have been threatened by McCain and Palin after reading a lot of their commentaries about stem cells, evolution in schools, etc. It was exciting to watch his acceptance speech while registering with the fact that we have a black president.

I think it's downright ridiculous that the same ones preaching equality of races are the ones gloating about his skin color. And that's all it is is skin color. I watched a PBS show Monday night about the importance of the Constitution which was right on. I'm just as ignorant as most of America about it, but I'll admit, it was never a big priority to me really. Anything involving the word "politics" would make me cringe and go listen to Neil Young. It means a lot more to me now than it ever has.

Another person interviewed on CNN made the comment about the majority of Americans forming their opinions from the 30 second commercial bits bombarding every airwave possible instead of studying issues themselves. Okay, I came up with another idea based on a map of R vs. D along the coast of Lake Erie cleveland areas. A local news anchor said the vote was swayed to Obama's side in a predominately Republican area. BUT take into consideration there were more non-white voters than other elections and a lot of that particular population is non-white. That never got mentioned.

Personally, I don't give a rat's ass. I'm glad it's over so my regular tv viewing isn't interrupted. God save the Queen.

My logical side wants to say Obama is more or less a liberal Dem who will be forced to placate to the fringes of his party. We are in a critical stage of our history: the debt, Social Security, the housing/banking crises, the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan, and immigration are all issues that can cause irreparable harm to our future. I thought McCain would be able to cooperate with everyone on these items. Obama will try but he probably won't do too well, not due to any fault of his own, but because of those who want to take advantage of his position. They will run him in every direction imaginable.
