They pretty much stole my idea. I figured when I conquered my first country, I would ban country and western music outright. I would have a special intelligence agency formed to seek out and destroy illegal, country music speakeasies... it would be awesome, a bunch of suburban douchebags wearing cowboy hats running for their lives in their cheap, leather boots, but their spurs catch on a tree stump and they fall down into a hail of gunfire, leaving nothing but bloodsoaked chaps to dry in the sun.
It shouldn't even be that hard to weed them out. Just drive around until you see a parking lot full of pickup trucks. If it isn't a construction site, it's country killing time.

Besides, considering "goth" is put there.. and for the record, even "goths" cant agree what is goth music and what is not..
I'm pretty sure they will put any kind of loud / non-establishment music on there, and that will include metal.

Once again, Russian people wanting to listen to certain music will have to meet furtively in the night, always in the fear of being detected. We really are pretty well off, generally speaking, here in the West.

This will create musical whack-a-mole. "Genres" will diversify and suddenly we'll be facing a bizarre set of new terms, acronyms, and ridiculous teenagers which we'll all have to learn to hate anew. I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THAT.
In short, this is a terrible idea. Leave them all dressed up like a rag store off-cuts bin so we know who to giggle at, you dicks.

Cool, The Russians have alot yet to learn when giving free advertising and promotion(drawing attention towards, creating general interest and curiosity among the young, bored teenage masses)of some benign music trend.
This is the kind of stuff that made metal and hip-hop big $$$ for decades, there ain't nothing like a government you don't like telling you what music is cool by criminalizing it.

Being a hypocritical leader of a mock democracy doesn't by default mean you're swimming in an abundance of intelligence.
Problem in this case is that in Russia alternative people don't just get "oppressed" - they have a certain tendency towards getting shot. And this is the governmets way of saying go ahead. But my best guess would be that what we're looking at is a cross between puritan panic and a wish to distance the Russian people from the West.
