DVD creation
Alright i need a little bit of help here and see if any of you guys can help me. Someone made a dvd for me and I want to rip it and edit it. I have a ripping program that can create an iso image. What I want to do is ripp the footage and seperate them into chapters and make custom menus, etc. I have another program where I can rip the footage successfully, but it makes me rip the audio seperatly and it rips into a form of audio that is not supported on my pc and I have looked for updates for it but i cant find anything. Can anyone recommend programs that can do what I'm looking to do?

have you tried looking on download.com yet?
You can find lot's of trials and freeware there, though always read the product description, because some of them have spyware in the installers.

yeah i have but i cant really find what im looking for. it does what i want it to do, but it rips the audio in a different format, one did rip it in WAV form but the audio was blank.

Thats anoying. Have you tried sourceforge.net?
Its an opensource repository. About three thirds of everything there never gets finished, but the programs that are supported well, are usualy very good and free to boot.

Does anyone know of any programs good for burning AVI/MPG/WMV files onto a DVD that would work on a typical standalone DVD player? I'm looking for something that lets you design your own menus (with pictures, audio, text... and what not)
What would be the best program for this?  I can't seem to find a decent one, and the ones I have tried aren't very good.

Most decent burning software suites offer a way to do this.
I use Nero burning rom.
Remember though, that depending on the way the files are coded, it'll take some time to convert them to the MPEG-4(=dvd) format.

Yeah I've burned a few basic DVD's from AVI files, took like four fucking hours to encode each one... how annoying

It's good but I find the GUI to be more confusing than Nero 6.
