http://www.xmile.info/

I'm yet to try it but it is claimed to burn much cleaner than normal petrol therefore increasing MPG. Some people claim they can get another 100 miles from a full tank. I just wonder if it affects performance at all. I'm surprised it's on sale here in Jersey.

Ugh. Rather than paying $900 for a 727 Torqueflite transmission rebuild, I think I'll get a book and do it myself... anyone here ever pull a transmission apart?

Ryan, you may be happy to know I bought my first bike, a 2003 Honda CR250R for two grand... not a road bike, but I've had it down the road already Nothing beats the sound of a two stroke. Now all I need is a pickup truck or a trailer

no, i'm at Officer Candidate School for the navy. we won't be able to drive anywhere until the last few weeks of training. it's 12 weeks and i've completed one but am in holding company because i'm sick and injured. so right now, time isn't ticking. once i'm all healed up and another class comes along that gets to the point where i was when i rolled out, i'll be able to join that class and start the clock again.

I just pulled the extension housing and valve body out of the transmission for my dart... but I'm going to have to buy a bigger pair of snap ring pliers to get the output shaft bushing out My old man's tools suck to be honest, I think the tools I'm gonna have to buy will be more expensive than the overhaul kit

The overhaul is just about finished! Gotta get a new sealing ring for the front kickdown servo as I broke it putting it back into the case Clutches are rebuilt, new bushings on the pump etc. A few vague pics:

Rear drum, planetary gears and rear servo/linkage back in the case:

Piston goes up and locks the low reverse drum in gear:

Pump, governor and front servo:

Rebuilt front clutch pack with new clutches and rings:

I've never owned a pickup truck for any length of time, so I couldn't say what is best. I do know that every fuckin union company I've seen buys ford f-150s for work trucks, and they can take an awful beating.

Driving a stick is only fun if it's in a fun vehicle ie. a sports (5 or 6 speed) or muscle car (4 speed) or something built special for off road. I would NEVER buy a pickup truck or any shit economy/4 door car that was a 4 or 5 speed That's just way too much of a pain in the ass.

not the one I've driven at least ('69 brigadier), not sure about others.

Im gonna try and get my buddies 64 mercedes. heres the deal;

I have a 72 harley sportser, theres a guy thats interested in it, he has a 64 ford galaxy ragtop that he kinda wants to get rid off. now this buddy of mine gets major wood from ragtops, so I was gonna see if the guy with the 64 wanted to trade for my harley then see if my buddy didnt want to trade the galaxy for his mercedes.

im not normally a mercedes guy but his came straight from germany some navy guy bought it, so the lights and a few other things are different than the american versions were. its neat

That sounds cool, risky though. Maybe try showing him the ragtop and ask if he would be interested in it.

Pulled the motor and tranny today (first one I've ever done myself actually) I still need to buy new motor mounts and exhaust manifold gaskets and some other small shit before I reassemble

ive never pulled an engine when the body was on the car, we pulled the straight 6 out of my grandfathers '36 but the body was off it (frame off restoration) id imagine it could be a pain having the space constraints?

Nah it actually comes out very easily as long as you have the exhaust manifolds off. I also unbolted the transmission and removed it separately before I plucked the motor out (which is very easy anyways, just put a floor jack under the pan and unbolt the crossmember, and it falls right out)

I'll probably bolt up the engine and transmission on the garage floor first so I know the torque converter is in correctly, and fly the engine/trans in one piece... so I don't have to struggle with those pain in the ass bolts that bolt the tranny to the motor (they're right flush against the firewall and they are sooo fucking hard to reach in this car) Doing it this way that may be a little tough with the space constraints and like you said the whole front end being together, but it should (should) be less work than bolting the tranny to the engine when it's in the car

BTW how do you like my hemlock logs holding up my garage ceiling?

Anybody hear about this catalytic converter theft epidemic?

I hadn't heard anything about it until yesterday when my friend said his got stolen while he was working. He was at work (home depot) and he started going to lunch when he found out his shit got sawed off and taken.

Today i actually saw a news article talking about it. Crazy shitz.

Shift linkage is hooked up (column shift) kickdown linkage is all in up to the carb, exhaust manifolds are bolted up, power steering, alternator, gas line (and new filter that you can see in the picture) from the fuel pump, new 670 Holley and edelbrock air gap intake are on, and I cut out some shit, moved the horn over, drilled a few holes and took out the battery tray to fit the huuuuuge motherfuckin (at least twice the volume of the old one) new radiator in. I even put the hood back on to make sure this thing would clear and let the hood close. I don't even know what this radiator came out of but it is massive. Fuckin progress. Takes so goddamn long when you gotta do shit yourself. Dunno why the pics are so fuzzy, maybe I had a few too many white russians

Yeah most of em are just 6cyl knuckledraggers anyways...

The only car I've actually raced off the line was a 3rd gen Mitsubishi Eclipse and I smoked his ass. With my STOCK 1972 Dart To be fair, I do have twice as many cylinders and twice the displacement

Duuude just took out the puny 7 1/4" stock rear end and put in the new (old) 8 3/4" full posi, replaced pistons on both sides and got new brake shoes, plus I put in all the drum guts from the old rear end (same size shit, plus it was in better condition) Just made my last order to summit for over a hundred bucks for a battery relocation kit, new U bolts for the new rear end (3" case is biig) and some new axle seals.

This car is gonna riip. I'm psyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyched.

LS1 Camaro with flowmasters and a 6 speed? Yeaaaaaah buddy. Those LS motors have like infinite potential for making big horsepower. An LS6 intake will give you another 15 horse no problem. Oh and t-tops rule by the way. fuckin nice car

Check out the LS1 in this Datsun .__.

I would never admit to being a GM fan, but these LS motors are great.

Arghhh. Did the wiring for the battery in the trunk, put in the driveshaft and some other finishing touches yesterday, did caps and wires and timed the distributer today. Sounds angry. Very, very angry. Can't get it to idle or run smooth at low RPM's no matter how much I twist the distributer I think I need to degree the cam.

It's called Monsoon. Not a huge name or anything just sounds great at all volumes. Never gets distorted or anything at high volumes like most do, and keeps the EQ perfectly aswell.

I've been thinking about buying a Z car and running either a gen 1 sbc or an LS motor in it.... ...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...hlink:middle:us

And it's close by! Has anyone here ever owned or driven a 240Z?

I was going to say "Good god that is some low mileage!!! " Then I noticed the engine swap. They are fun cars though..my old roommate had an old 280zx.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/IMG_2415s.jpg This is the only pic I have of it I think..that's our old neighbors 350z with it.

So far I am keeping my car stock..but have played with the idea of a turbo or just leaving it as is and buying a used bike.. Then later down the road trading my car towards a real sports car. Used Z06 anyone??

Sick cars!!! Thanks for the pic. Those 350z's are a fuckin quick car. I've actually been talking with this guy and this is looking like a killer deal...

1979 280zx

The 280zx has thicker framerails and stiffer construction all around than the 240's, not to mention the 280 is fuel injected. I think a 280 would take to a small block Chevy better as well PLUS the law in new york state is that if a car is less than 25 years old it must undergo an emissions test during inspection. Perfect.

I'm finally buying my first car..1995 Honda Accord LX 4 door!

I'm getting it super fucking cheap from my gf's aunt and uncle. $1000 and it has less than 185,000km on it. Good shape too, other than some minor dents on the front passenger side door.

See ya later '96 Rustang.

I've driven it before several times. It's a fun little car to drive. Should be good for my first car, especially fuel-wise as opposed to the Mustang..

Ehhhhhh if it was anything other than one of those 4 cylinder japwagons I'd say it was spent. If it's the 4 and not the V6 I'd say it has another 100K left in it, provided it hasn't been beaten.

It is a 4. And remember, these are kilometres and not miles.

Edit - For my American comrades - 185,000km = 114,953miles

Last time I drove it was around Xmas at it had 178xxxkm and has barely been driven since because they got a new car.

I'm not exactly sure what happened to the old plate..maybe it's not the registration but like the deed to the car.
