Gym music, again
A very particular kind of gym music, too. Which I need more of.
Think:
Bolt Thrower
Jungle Rot
Benediction
More death metal than anything else, riff-driven, stompy, and generally made by grumpy old men.
What else?
Happy new year, you rectal ticks.

Cannibal Corpse. New Cannibal Corpse, more specifically. I remember from the last time we discussed this that you're already well aware of most of the other good workout music, the best probably being Pantera.
Exhorder, sounding quite similar to Pantera in terms of heaviness and aggression, also work well. I can't recommend anything similar to Bolt Thrower or Benediction, and I won't pollute this thread with a bunch of shit you've already heard of unless you think it might help to discuss it by refreshing your memory to classics like "Among the Living" by Anthrax.

Dew Scented - Impact. It might be more thrashy than what you're looking for, but it gets me real fired up.

What he said. Plus, a mixed grab bag of death/thrash metal albums like-
Monstrosity - Imperial Doom
Malevolent Creation - Ten Commandments
Dark Angel - Leave Scars
Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients and Mallevs Maleficarvm
Yattering - Murder's Concept (more rhythmic than their other stuff)
Nasty Savage - Indulgence
Sorry that none of those bands are strongly similar to Bolt Thrower or the others. Nasty Savage are really the only one that uniquely defy categorization and will also be the hardest to find. If you want to try, let me know.
There is other stuff, too, but you probably wouldn't find Tankard as conducive to working out as I do. I just need something energetic (preferably but not necessarily upbeat) music that I don't find offensively bad, which rules out energetic country or R&B. Besides metal, I also make frequent use of classic rock and 90's hard rock. I can elaborate there if it becomes pertinent to the discussion.

I don't listen to metal when I work out. Mostly classical.

If you like Bolt Thrower and Benediction, you can't go wrong with mid 90's Napalm Death. Or any ND for that matter, the newer albums are so fucking uptempo it gets my blood boiling unlike anything else I listen to.
I don't bring my ipod to work outs anymore but I did I remembered enjoying a lot of Terrorizer, Brutal Truth and Rotten Sound.

As for similar artist or bands that I think are similar.
Krabathor - Orthodox
Tortharry(you can check their videos out on Youtube and record it with Audacity)
Personal Favorites for what little exercise I do.
Deicide - Scars of the Crucifix
Nocturnus - Thresholds
Through the Eyes of the Dead - The Scars of Ages(you probably hate this band)
3 Inches of Blood - Advance and Vanquish

Already know these two backwards. Entombed is one of my all time favourite bands, because I am old. Will check out Demolition Hammer, have always meant to.

I have and am totally unimpressed with Scars of the Crucifix. I pinched a few tracks off 3 Inches of Blood's latest and deleted them immediately afterwards. It sounded like a drab Lamb of God with a molested parrot on the mic. TTEOTD is much more like it... why would I hate them?

That's more like eurothrash, isn't it? I'll look...
Lastly, whoever said early Pestilence gets a big e-hug. That's very much the right sound.

eh techinically i guess. Like i said, it's probably more thrashy than what you're looking for, but it's their heaviest and most in-your-face CD and has some good production. It's one of my personal favorites to get the adrenaline pumping.

If it works for you, how about some Coroner? Especially No More Color. For the love of fucking Christ, check out that Nasty Savage album. Someone has to! Also, Forbidden's first album is heavy, hard, high energy, and awesome. The only reason I didn't mention it before is that it's thrash and the vocals aren't gruff as you'd probably like them to be.

I must really recommend Destruktor. They put a lot of emphasis on "kicking ass" (well those really aren't the right words but fuck it), gets you pumped up quite a bit.

How about Naglfar's Sheol album? Not exactly death metal, but it kinda makes me want to wage a chthonian bloodbath upon any Free Motion machine that dare dangle it's sleek cables unto my realm of pure fitness holocausto.
I usually then pull a muscle and declare the equipment the victor

I think I know these guys. Convince me that this band isn't crappy modern black metal.
