Martyr
I just started getting into these guys a few weeks ago with Warp Zone. Plenty of interesting chords and patterns. The album flows really well from start to finish despite being quite technical. I can't think of a riff that sounds out of place on the whole album, and some of the solos are incredible. More recently I got Feeding the Abscess which I'm still getting into.
They are definitely one of the best bands I've checked out in a while. Any thoughts?

Feeding The Abscess feels a lot more tech death than the Atheist-like death thrash of Warp Zone. It's almost like comparing two different bands at times but both are excellent albums, even if Warp Zone still shades it for me.

It's their speciallity, they can play 3 times faster than the real tempo and these guys still tight as fuck (they really do it, play 3 times faster)
Yeah like John said, we cant really compare, they are too different from each ones
And its normal if they are tech and tight, they are in university in jazz music.

Is it worth getting Hopeless Hopes?

Yes. It's more 'thrashy' in my opinion so it's my favorite.
You really can't go wrong with this band. Anything they touch turns to gold.

friggin awesome band. Feeding the abscess is sick. Me and the lead player in my band listened to the tunes on myspace and just kind of stood there stupified. If only more bands would refer to early tech death in the modern scene. Hopeless hopes is amazing and totally classic as well.

I did get Hopeless Hopes eventually. It's good but it's got very little on the other albums which still sound fresh after countless listens.

Wow I was actually in this thread a few days ago, I was searching for information on Martyr and suggestions for my first album. I decided on Feeding the Abscess.

I get to see them at Maryland Death Fest.
I've been a fan of 'em for a while now. I lost my copy of "Warp Zone" though, and haven't been able to get it again.

I personally prefer the Paul Speckman Martyr better. But that's just me.

No Martyr. Paul Speckman has a bunch of bands. Master being his main one. Then Abomination than Martyr.
