There's only really one band that sounds close to SoP and that's visceral bleeding, but they're mostly the same members so do they count?
Wayd are.... ehhh, when I heard it I felt like I've heard all of that before. Sounds along the lines of Florida prog death(Cynic, later Death, Atheist, Nocturnus), Pestilence and Theory in Practice. Not to say they suck though, but they're not really very unique.

When I saw the name 'Wayd' the first thing I thought was:
'isn't that the band that sounds kind of like Atheist?'
Bethlehem are pretty unique.

Yeah, I made the same connections too, they just seem a bit "different" to me, for a lack of a better term. They remind me a little of Voivod too, with the way they use dissonant chords and weird vocals. Worth checking out I guess : /

hmmmmm, i believe many of the classic bands are unique because they were innovators in their genres and now people are just building on those foundations
ill do this by genre:
thrash: Pestilence, Martyr
death: Death, Nile
power: Mercenary, Blind Guardian
prog: cynic, into eternity, dream theater, (ripoffed many times) , opeth
traditional: Iron Maiden
black metal: emperor (like dt imitated many many times today)
misc.: Eluveitie, Kekal, Gorguts

Can we please keep it to what's unique AS OF NOW i could care less about a band that was an innovator but is now seen as generic.
Found a band called mista mushroom which is ska / hip hop/ metal/ experimental
pretty unique imo

Well i guess it is death metal in some aspects and prog metal in alot of ways, but yea they are thrash in alot of ways. Its consistently fastand the vocals are screamed in a thrash fashion rather than growled (excluding the growls on fta). I mean they mix alot of stuff into their music mostly progressive influences but to me they have always been technical thrash.

None of those bands are seen as generic and if you see them that way you are just a douche who needs to go listen to some of the classics.
And i REALLY could care less about a band that mixes ska and hip hop with metal. That sounds like taking mc hammer ,the mighty mighty bosstones and testament and throwing them into a musical blender and getting a piece of crap as the result.
