Is anyone familiar with Matlab?

I have a homework assignment for Matlab and I have absolutely no idea how to do this one problem and I was hoping someone that is technologically inclined could just tell me what to type in to get the necessary results.

I used it about 5 years ago for a meta-analysis project at university. Unfortuantely, I can't remember a thing about MatLab.
