DAMN! They aren't metalcore, they are melodic death metal, with shit guitar solos.


The new song is awesome, I hope the rest of the album will be similar. I really wish they would kick their guitarist in the ass and tell him to write decent solos, that don't sound like worthless space fillers.

Melodic Death Metal indeed. They stay true to their metal roots. If they are grouped along with this new metalcore shit then they are one of the only metalcore bands that I like. Solid music

i dont know a friend of mine who plays guitar says their riffs are quite a pain and they do have a decent drummer, its mostly just the vocals that suck, but his highs are decent.

BTW how can you say you don't like melodic death metal when you listen to freaking wintersun which in my opinion is just the Scandinavian version of melodic death metal. Modern version of in flames first few albums.

The Black Dahlia Murder isnt the most technical stuff out there, but alot of it is weird rhythms and patterns (at least the "Miasma" album was). I'm not gonna sit here praising them, considering I think most of this board is still antil Black Dahlia... :P I don't give shit though. I'm going to be all over this album like white on rice when it comes out.

Wow, it's not good at all. I don't understand the big hype about this band. The vocals are terrible and the music is just boring. It just sucks they represent my state, but I guess it's better than Kid Rock, Eminem, and Madonna. I would say Iggy Pop, but I actually like his music.

Who said anything about technical anyway? Why is that even a factor in rather a metal band is good or not? They just aren't all that original. Not in the least bit special at all. Would metal be any different at all without them? Will they be remembered 10 (and maybe even 5 or less by other than die-hard fans) years from now? That's why they're mediocre. And as far as computer speakers I (hope) think most people in here don't listen to a majority of their music on the computer because not only is that one of the weakest formats as far as sound quality, but you get a lot more of an enhanced expirence on vinyl or even in your car driving around as opposed to sitting in your basement on the CPU. Instead of getting all pissy at people for disagreeing with you, why don't you justify why BDM is not mediocre? The speaker assertion doesn't cut it.

I'd have to agree with this. I used to be a BDM fan, and a lot of my friends are still hard on BDM. But honestly, they are generic and flat, and this new tune, although decent, is nothing special at all. Expected something a bit more innovative and fresh from them.

I go through stages of liking or disliking this band.

That said,I dislike the new song......for now.

man what the hell happened to the crossing between high and low vocals...that was one of the appeals to me...i still think Unhallowed was their best album in terms of lyrical content...shit zombies, cthulhu, zombies, stalker, werewolf like demon thing, zombies, shit yeah...

Hate to dig up an old thread.
I was in between on exactly how much I liked this album, but after seeing them play it live, I have a new respect for it. They put on an amazing show, and with Shannon Lucas on drums, it completes them kicking complete ass.

And yeah. I've listened to them since before "Unhallowed' came out... back when MP3.com still ruled. I had a demo version of Unhallowed; ended up losing it, and came across BDM again a few years ago before "Miasma" came out. Nocturnal is just purely amazing... See 'em live if/when they come around.
