...to take the audio from a YouTube file and extract it somewhere in order to put said file onto a music cd?

Uhm you may try to download it with Vdownloader, which allows you to save it as avi or mpg, then with VirtualDub you can save only the audio track. I've never tried but it should work.

Go to that website. Paste the URL (link) of the desired video into the URL thingy. Open the 'Converts to' thingy and select MP3. Then click 'Start'... I doubt I needed to explain that because it's a pretty easy process, but I thought I'd make it a little easier just in case.
