Primitive death metal(Hellhammer, Possessed, Death).
Late 80's/early 90's death metal(Gorguts, MA, Suffocation, Deicide, Cynic, Atheist, Nocturnus, good lord everything!)
Late 80's/early 90's grind and crust(ENT, ND, Assück, Carcass, Terrorizer, Nausea, etc.)
And I've developed a huge interest recently in: Early 80's UK Hardcore punk(GBH, Discharge!)

i think that defeated sanity is a TBD band and most mods around here think pretty highly of them, i have yet to hear them, just cuz when things get ultra heavy, it starts to blend with the blasting/trem-picked 016352738 type riffs/ and urghurghurgh, you know. but i might be and probably am wrong about this since snowsill seems pretty stubborn supporter of them

Bands like Visceral Bleeding and Defeated Sanity are considered brutal technical death metal.

I wouldn't exactly TBD a "movement" per say because it's pretty diffuse, but to name some I'd say Suffocation are THE perfect example, plus they pretty much invented the BDM sound. Other more contemporary examples: Decrepit Birth, Defeated Sanity, Spawn of Possession, Kronos maybe. Devourment is not really technical, but it sure is brutal.
Sweeps or other solo stuff don't make it tbd. TONS of riffs in a single song, tight riffs, extremely fast drumming and highly complex arrangements with rare or no use of choruses is probably as precise as you can get to TBD.
Usually breakdowns are the requirement for a DM band to be considered BDM.

I fucking love defeated sanity's first album and EP but the new one makes my wiener soft instead of erection inducing like Prelude. Other than that band I really don't have much clue who any of the bands you guys listed are, Except I think my bassist like Spawn of Possession.
I personally detest brutal death, but if any of those bands would interest an old school DM fan, I guess ill check em out.

The Bubblegum pop movement takes my vote, followed by Dance, and Techno. I like a fair bit of grunge, but it is a bit too heavy at times. Elton John is probably my favorite musician to date closely Followed by Celine Dion.

Well considering alot of things in music are related to mathematical things (like the timing and shit) I hope it wasn't to suprising.

For me it would be the 80's/early 90s Death Metal/Death DooM/Grindcore movement.
1930-50s Jazz
1930-1980s-Horror film soundtracks
The late 70's Punk movement,
And 60's and 70's psychedelic rock/ Early DooM rock
The year and years before when Mayhem released their first album.
As far as anything recent I love the experimental bands such as Portal or Axis Of Perdition. That is about it. I hate most of the death metal comming out now.

once again, I HATE SUFFO CLONES!
they literally are the demise of death metal
what a coincidence, that thye wrote a song called demise of the clones.
i don't even really like suffo, they don't have much conviction just 09812304231433753

Suffocation isn't even really Death metal in my opinion but like thrash with this guy who goes urrfadurfa dooo uuurggh iluvcawk while doing rap hand signs YES MULLEN YOUR A BITCH
If you compare them to lets say Death, Immolation, Obituary, etc they don't really invoke the same emotions.

I don't like Suffocation either. It's a big YAWN fest to me. They really ruined DM cause now every band wants to sound like them. I like Devourment a little but I hate all the other Devo-clones out there.

For shizzle
Not to keen on devourment though, but theres Way worse out there, Like EVERY SINGLE band that takes the devourment chuggachugga and decides to play it for 40 minutes on an albuim and pretend like they were the first to do it

Suffo' didn't ruin DM, all the bands that copied them did, plus there are have been much worse since. Namely those copies. Casketcrusher, +1.
And I dislike all the hardcore hybrid genres. They are not so much movements as hives.
And the culture aside from the music associated with hardcore cannot be described with earthly curses.
90's death metal.
20th Century avantgarde.
Common practice.
Jazz.
Most of the stuff I really, really like isn't part of a movement. Although some of my favourites are within the brackets mentioned above.

Suffocation eats all other DM bands for breakfast. I am not understanding all the gayness on this subject. Best... period... got it?

i th0ught i could trust you.
they are gay because they brought on the trashification of the whole fucking genre. constant trem picked riffs+constant blast beats+really really low and THIN sounding vocals=opiate for the masses
i've got nothing against trem-picking but FUCK! i can barely hear what they're playing when it is palm muted. I just find their riffs boring and uninspiring run of the mill standard death metal. no distinction
plus i just dislike frank mullen and his shaved head
