Paul is dead
I'm not a Beatles fan or anything, but today I just learned about the "Paul is Dead" theory. Has anyone else heard of this? What do you guys think about it?

Well, besides that it obviously wasn't true I attribute it to fans with too much time on their hands looking too far into things and finding what they want.

It was a dumb rumor back in the day (Paul died on a 'stupid bloody Tuesday' but also at 'Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins'? He's dead because his back's turned in some pictures? What about when the other Beatles have had their backs turned? Paul's bass playing got better and more interesting at one point so obviously he died and was replaced by somebody chosen by a lookalike contest rather than for musical skill? Paul's late era band dictatorship was allowed by the three original Beatles who knew that he was just a replacement and really had no say? etc.) and became dumber after The Beatles broke up. The only thing that's really worthwhile about it is the way that it shows how The Beatles seemed to have a pseudo-mystical effect on people, but there's already the more interesting coweaving of Rosemary's Baby, the White Album, and Charles Manson for that.
In brief, Mia Farrow starred in Rosemary's Baby, which Roman Polanski filmed in the Dakota, which is shown to have been basically possessed by a Satanic cabal attracted there by dark forces in the building who have planned the birth of the Antichrist. During the filming she has an affair with Polanski and a spiritual awakening, and goes to India with her sister Prudence and The Beatles, Donovan, and a few members of the Beach Boys, to study under the Maharishi. The Beatles write pretty much the entire White Album while there and record it when they return from India. A hanger on of the Beach Boys, Charles Manson, hears the White Album and thinks that it's a coded message meant to incite a race war and decides to take on the mission before him. For whatever reason his divine mission to help start the race war involves murdering members of the Beach Boys, who changed some lyrics to a song he wrote when they recorded it for 20/20, and he send the Manson family to where he thinks some of the Beach Boys will be. But instead Roman Polanski's pregnant wife Sharon Tate is there and she gets murdered and her unborn fetus is disfigured in a vaguely Satanic manner. Soon after, John Lennon moves to New York City and takes up permanent residence in the Dakota, outside of which he is eventually shot. That's a cool, strange set of coincidences. That John Lennon says 'Cranberry sauce' at the end of 'Strawberry Fields Forever' is not particularly cool.

Personally I think it's all a pile of shit... but some people believe it and even though I don't believe it, I can sometimes see why they would believe it. There is a website that explains this, I saw it somewhere on the Ogrish forum... I'll try to find it and post the link here, it's rather interesting.

There's also a website proving, through the same means as the 'Paul is dead'ers, that by Revolver, every member of The Beatles but Paul died, with Ringo having died twice, and that he's only singled out in all those later photos because he's the only original Beatle left. In other words, people don't believe in the shit because of the evidence. And with good reason, because most of the evidence is pretty shitty.
