DRM thread

DISCLAIMER: If you don't know what DRM is, read about it before opening your stupid fucking mouth please, thank you.

Seeing as the DRM bullies of the world have taken a swipe at MetalTabs recently, I thought it might be fun to have a DRM thread.

I'll post more about this when I get back from drinking.

If something can be read, it can be copied. The whole DRM idea is IMO pointless . And this is just ridiculous (imagine Ford suing you for not buying their cars )

It's good to know you all care about the issues facing the music industry.

This should give you some idea on how irrelevant the RIAA is to normal business practice. What a load of shit.

The logical response to all this is going to be a high-functioning EarthStation. EarthStation 5, if indeed it was a proper file sharing network at all, was an interesting idea. It was a file-sharing network, like Napster or Limewire, which made two rather grandiose claims.

1) Total client anonymity.
2) It operated from the Palestinian occupied territories - try enforcing American law there, Uncle Sam!

However, a file-sharing network built properly along those principles is going to alter the structure of digital copyright irreperably. If PirateBay makes good on their promise to buy Sealand (a micronation which has always amused the shit out of me) then it will be an interesting next few years in the world of DRM.
