Are you glad when someone you know dies?

I was just wondering if anyone in hear ever felt relieved or happy that someone they were close to died. Family member, ex-family member, friend, ex-girlfriend/boyfriend?

My sister's ex-husband died a couple days ago, and when I heard the news, I was like, "good riddance." He was a drunk who had 5 kids, 2 of them illegitimate and with other women (The other three are my sister's). he had every chance to clean up and he didn't. He even stopped drinking, and the night he died, he had just started (dunno if that's what killed him). He had everything; a family, a job, and he threw it away for booze.

His kids are a little shaken up that he died. one of them was really affected. the oldest one wasn't too depressed, I don't think. The youngest was too young to know him.

anyone every know someone like that and was relieved when they died? Or am I just sick?

dude, a jackass, who had no regard for his family, died. if fact, sounds like most people are probably better off without him. why not be glad.

It's just that no one really feels the way I do. I mean, they agree that he deserved what he got, but I'm the only one who doesn't think it's sad.

Maybe they're the loonies.

in highschool, this kid, i didnt like, died. when i heard, the line "another one bites the dust" came to mind. sure he wasnt a part of my family, but if he was, i still wouldnt give a fuck. and its not like you did like this guy.

i wouldnt be surprised if, at least, some of them are just pretending to care, as some form of respect. i bet you could get a couple of them, one on one, and they would admit to being glad . but seriously, i think its just an act of respect, to not talk badly about him.

I was glad when the antisemitic principal who tried to get me busted with multiple felonies for writing on bathroom walls died.

Not proud of it, I wish I could say I was mature enough to not be happy, but unfortunately I wasn't.

That being said...

I think my dead person and your dead person are having the gay sexings in hell! Yay!

Even when it's a painful situation prior to a death in an abusive situation, the kids generally still feel some sort of love, as warped an idea as it might be, for their parent or caregiver.

Entirely different situation, I was glad when my dad, grandfather, and grandmother passed away. My dad was in final stages of colon cancer and was on morphine. Even though he could stay home and Hospice helped out tremendously, it was a blessing. My grandmother was in her mid 90's and couldn't swallow so she couldn't eat. She wasted away and died in her sleep in a nursing home. My mom went to stay with her every day. My grandfather was gone in a matter of months from cancer that they initially said was just the flu. It was close to this time in May actually.

Sometimes I feel sadder about people that I've never met, but it varies. I don't know that I've ever been really happy about someone's death though.

Without exception, I am always glad when someone I know dies. It's only the people I know who ever even have the chance to bother me.

Not particularly. After a while i'm indifferent, but if the person was close to me they can remain in my memories.

My ex-girlfriend, though this may sound so predictable because most people hate their ex-girlfriend/ex-boyfriend.
She slept with three of my friends during our relationship and just does anything for sex. She's treacherous and does everything in her power to get what she wants.

I'll laugh out insanely loud when I hear she's died from a sexual disease.

Thread's not for you to immaturely bitch about whoever in your life you don't like and think you'd like to see dead. So keep quiet about the ex until she actually dies.

Wow. I really needed to read that...........

I haven't ever felt happy or upset when someone i know dies. Except at my dads uncles funeral when i was trying not to laugh all the way through. I would explain but none of you would understand so i wont.

No man you aren't sick for thinking that. I agree with you, people like that don't deserve to stay alive and enjoy life, if they are going to throw everything away, why should they even be here? People like that don't serve a purpose in this world. And yes, there is one asshole in my family that died, and when I heard the news... I almost shit my pants with joy, he was a heroin & coke dealer who beat his wife (my aunt) and beat his 2 kids from a very young age, and raped his own 12 year old daughter, he died of a heroin overdose... after the funeral was over, my dad urinated on his grave in front of everybody

I dunno man, i think its inherently a bad thing to enjoy somebodys demise. Some would say well what about vicious and killer criminals or overall bad people (hitler, saddam and so on), but i think people shouldn't get "pleasure" out of these peoples deaths, moreover a sense that they won't be able to continue to do serious harm to others.

I've actually started to seriously reconsider my stance on abortion since last semester (when i took a philosophy class) and i came across the idea of what i think it means. Regardless of reason or how it happens (the pregnancy) chosing abortion is saying that it would be better off that the child (or possibility of a child) dies, than allowing them the "gift" of life in say a foster home or adoption agency. And this seemingly disregard for the sanctity of life (in my mind) doesn't sit with me well. I'm not sure on my stance but i think it's somewhat similar to this topic.

You philosophy class fucked you up. It's especially good when an unborn baby dies, even more so if you're responsible for the pregnancy. The later the better.

There is somebody in my family who isn't dead yet that I would mind dying. Well he was in my family for over ten years but currently isn't. My sister's ex-husband contracted a disease (I can't think of its name or even how it effects body exactly) but if he doesn't take medication for it he may lose the ability to walk. He couldn't haddle the fact he had to quit his job because of his illness so he (in my eyes) wussed out and threw his life away.

During the last year of their marriage, he would throw objects at my sister in front of their son, who was about 4 at the time. He then began cheating on her and became addicted meth. Last summer their second son was born, he has probably seen him 3 times since then. Now their divorced and their youngest son looks up to me as a father figure.

So if he dies I wouldn't mind.

If I killed the person, and I'm relieved that he/she is dead. Does that still count?

Awhile back this kid got into a wreck, i knew him personally. The wreck didn't kill him however, and when a crowd of people got around me and told me about it i went, "Too bad it didn't kill his ass". The looks on their faces were priceless, but hey some people just bother you like a 2nd nature deal.

the dude sounded like a statistic waiting to happen. Its sad but at the same time its sort of a good thing that he won't be around to screw up his children's' lives. A friend of mine just died of a seizure and he was only 18. I NEVER cry and i actually shed one tear when this happened. I just sat there for 30 minutes and didn't say anything. I guess im good at coping but i was pretty depressed about that for a day or so. I don't think its a good thing to have an attitude of "good riddance" though. Thats just offensive to those who did actually see some good in him. This just shows what alcohol can do if you are a vulnerable enough person.
