Doom Metal
Any doom fans here? If so what are your favorite bands and subgenres?
I'll go First:
Saint Vitus and Pentagram (cant choose between them)
Traditonal doom/Stoner Doom
Im not really into any other sort of doom metal. I really dont like death doom. That combo just spoils doom IMO.

I like Khanate, Isis and Cult Of Luna...
Basically anything with lots of growling, slow chord progressions and very slow tempo is always fun for me

Death/doom is the shit. Check out Dusk, Disembowelment, Mythic, Winter, Infester [US] and Coffins [Japan]. Rottevore isn't "doom metal" but they are a great example of a crushing doomier DM band. Really early Carpathian Forest (the Bloodlust And Perversion demo) is some suprisingly great death/doom metal also.

Yeah, Disembowelment is the only doom band I listen to. I keep hearing things about Electric Wizard though (my friend is a fanatic), so I'll have to check them out eventually too.

My alltime favorite doom bands are early Black Sabbath(fav. by far), Sleep, some Cathedral and especially Candlemass. I don't really know about a great deal of other doom, but I've recently gotten into Abdullah stoner-y stuff with lots of groove, which are pretty awesome, not sure if it really qualifies as doom metal though.
I also have Katatonia and Ninghizzia stuff but I haven't listened to them in aaaaages.

Amazing band, yes, but doom metal? No.
And as for me, I like the goth metal bands that are supposedly doom influenced, such as old Theatre of Tragedy, The Sins of Thy Beloved, etc. I've heard some bands, such as Shape of Despair and Paradise Lost, and just couldn't get into them. When every freakin' song is 'play a note, let it ring, 5 seconds later, play another note, let it ring, etc.' it just bores me. Lamented Souls are pretty cool though.

haha casketcrusher, you know every band ever. you must have been listening to metal for 40years to know all these bands.
anyways, listening to dopesmoker, and it's tastiness is as heavy as ever
how does he acquire this godly tone? his open powerchords sound absolutely amazing, hard to explain, but it sounds like they are dropping

No I haven't been listening that long haha. It's just when I find a genre I dig I listen to as many bands in that style or who have a variation of that style. There's thousands of DooM bands that I probably have never heard of.

Would you guys consider Empyrium doom metal? They have atmospheric keyboards, relaxing violins, chants, opera like male vocals, and screams.

Could anyone tell me recent similar bands to Evoken. Like really similar. I know all their influences like Winter, Thergothon, diSEMBO etc. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have BM influence in the music like on the old Evoken song Graven Images. Not mandatory though. Just something slow and crushing in the same way would be great. And hopefully not too melodic.
Has anyone mentioned Buried At Sea and Unearthly Trance yet? Easily my favorite american doom-bands with Evoken. Crushing stuff.

I need some stuff similar to Swallow The Sun.
Epic, powerful, emotional.
Also, some retard said Doom isn't music. Funny enough, he's a musician (drummer) and a very good one at that.

I met people like that. If it isn't 300bpm and technical wankery for 5 minutes it's not tallented or not music. Ignorance.
