Christ. Watching grenades go off in a cemetery during a funeral is fucking unreal. You were, what, 5 or 6 when that stuff was going on?

Yeah, about that. I remember seeing it on the news, and then seeing the reactions of people in the room. Terrifying shit. It was played again numerous times throughout the following years, although the Michael Stone clip got much more airtime haha, why wouldn't it? The man's a friggin' maniac!
My grandparents live up there, and most of my extended family are buried in that cemetery, so if you ever come over we can go on a death tour I'll only charge you half price, what with you being a friend n'all.

They didn't kill the soldiers as revenge for the Michael Stone attack; they believed it was another funeral attack like the one before, and tried to stop it before it got started. The IRA swooped in when the two were captured and took over the situation (they were separate from the mob of mourners), and it was they who murdered the soldiers, seemingly without reason given that they were incapacitated.
I've never had any sympathy for the IRA or how they go about their business, which is a position held by most of the people who live here. The IRA of today and that of the early 19th/20th century uprisings (and earlier) are very different beasts. The latter bears more resemblance to Tony Soprano's crew than "freedom fighters" haha.

I think it's gang/mob action thought that has causes so many problems in Irland. I could be wrong. It seems some people don't get enough cool down time to rethink or it becomes personal. I know how difficult it can be to change "beliefs" with people that grow up a certian way or to forgive. My mother nearly died when I've dated dark girls before, but my grandmother always told her its was wrong for some reason and it stuck. I loved my grandmother, she helped raise me but I could never get past her bigotry. I've had reverse racism used agaist me and I'm like WTF! First of all, when was I a slave trader and where the fuck is my money? I guess in my angst I snapped in a 180 degree direction but I just wanted to know why I had to "be" with my own race. I've dated non-caucasian ladies I would have married before but it was our families conflicting interest that ended things. I have never found a real reason why race matters. I'll never know. I get culture and tradition differances ( those can be delt with ) but never race. As far as I'm concerned, every person on this planet is human and as equally worthless as I.
This is only one planet. I would like to live on it and know it... all of it.

Off to do some research

When you're done, let me know. I'm from one one of the most nercro places in the US... Cairo Illinois. Seems people love to come visit the place from across the US, make short indie firms about it, take pics, never spend a dime, google about the statistics, wonder why the city hasn't posted tax spending records in 8 years, ponder why no one can contact local government officials, and blog about why it's the epic failure city in modern America.
Good news is most of it has burned to the ground the last year and nature is claiming more every day! It you don't like the crack house next door just wait a summer and you will never know it was there after Ivy and/or fire claim it. Looks dismal at the moment but get your low cost open sub division housing contract property deal right now

I agree with you 100%. It's pure tribalism, fuelled by copious amounts of fear and 800+ years of historical justification for bigotry which is almost always drilled into the heads of young people by their parents. If you're interested in learning about this shit I can only recommend one book to you. It's called Lost Lives, and it's basically a catalogue and description of every death which occurred as a result of "the troubles" (from 1968 until 1999, although 1999 wasn't the end of the deaths). It doesn't varnish the information with romanticism or the like; the cold facts of each death speak for themselves. It's a monumental piece of literature and it's a perfect window into this nonsense. If you get your hands on a copy I'll give you a list of my peeps and their friends/family who were killed, if you're interested!

Like I said to Soulinsane, Lost Lives is a great book if you want to learn about this stuff. Failing that, there's a series of documentaries I can recommend. It's called "Provos, Loyalists and Brits". Here's a torrent if you have the bandwidth:
https://isohunt.com/torrent_details...its?tab=summary
Here is a YouTube account which hosts all of the episodes of the documentary:
http://www.youtube.com/user/26and6equals1
It's made by a British journalist who covered pretty much everything that happened here, and despite the fact that he's a DIRTY BRIT (ha) he's completely fair in his reporting.
Movies on the subject I can recommend:
Bloody Sunday ( torrent) ( IMDB)
Hunger ( torrent) ( IMDB)
Omagh ( torrent) ( IMDB)
In the Name of the Father ( torrent) ( IMDB)
Fifty Dead Men Walking ( torrent) ( IMDB) this one is a pretty biased account from one man's perspective (an IRA informant working for British intelligence) and it's not a great movie, but it shows a lot of how things were done.
The Boxer ( torrent) ( IMDB) a fictional story about a reformed IRA prisoner who pisses off his former comrades in various ways.
Five Minutes of Heaven ( torrent) ( IMDB) this is the second one which isn't a true story, but it's pretty damn good for a TV movie. It examines the effects murder has on the family etc.
As you can probably tell, most of these movies are largely sympathetic towards the IRA. Hollywood loves an underdog story, and the IRA - despite murdering innocents on a regular basis - makes for interesting subject matter in that respect, so the reality of what they do gets ignored a lot of the time. I've yet to see a film about loyalist paramilitaries which doesn't paint them as butchers, but maybe they only have themselves to blame for that:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shankill_Butchers
I'm still not sure if that cat was just trying to fuck the other cat's dead anus.

I was joking around the other day about how I need to move to Finland cause pretty much all the melodeath bands I listen to are from there and the 'best music' is from there IMO. My friend showed me this finnish music video, and it's hilariously bad lol. Thought I'd share it...

It sounds like he's remembering the past and taking the present situations and bettering them.

Tripple-X actually sums it up pretty well. We acknowledge that the social democrats have done much good in the past and constructed many systems that's pretty good. But times change, and the political leadership need to change with them. And, perhaps most importantly of all - the state is there for the sake of the citizen, not the other way around.

With radical views like that I'm surprised your man hasn't been assassinated yet. Government for the people by the people? It's unsustainable!

I don't mind telling you, at the moment it feels a little like we could do anything. We're on a roll.
But, of course. Nothing is finished before 20:00 this Sunday, and there's always a chance my camp will end up bitterly disappointed. Or, perhaps, the nazis will get enough to grab a tip-of-the-wave position between the blocks in parliament.
What? You mean our polished facade of government for and by and so on actually could have some merit on its own? Hmmmmm. What an idea.

For the people by the people is something that politicians seem to forget. We have a whole bunch of people having fits here about outsourcing jobs overseas to China, but yet it continues. Heck, let the schmucks that do it go there to live and sell it where they live. Let them have their lead and cadmium laced products. I'm very leery of buying anything with shiny silver on it any more especially if it's made in the orient. They recalled all the kids stuff, but did they recall all the cooking utensils, jewelry, plumbing supplies that have them? I haven't heard a word about those. Politicians are protecting the kids so they can grow up healthy and THEN allow them to be poisoned.
Grrr.......I'm a house hermit for a reason. It's not safe to shop anymore.

I hate football, but I'd fucking watch this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8i9m0JZvJY
And I don't mean that in a cunty way either; it's infinitely more interesting than that Premier League shit. I just wonder what it's like for the players when they get home and want to revisit the game. They can't exactly watch a highlights reel.
GO FOOTBALL!

I wouldn't state it so bluntly. However, I cannot say I disagree that they are almond-eyed weak freaks of nature.

Motherfucker, I didn't even see it there. This CAN'T go unpunished. Unless, of course, I'm too lazy to punish him. We shall soon find out... but not right now. I don't feel like it.

ModCP is blue whether we like the green screen or not.
Now, if he actually prefers the blue to the green screen on the actual forum, not only is your criticism justified, but it calls for a total ostracism from the both the green and MetalTabs communities. Fuck that blue sheeit.

As Chris said, MODCP is blue. And Chris, I use green. Oh yeah, green. Something sexual is here probably but I don't know it. Do we even have a blue scheme option? Last time I checked it was white or green.

I also meant to ask you, is it true that Dinner For One is broadcast on every channel in Germany every Christmas?

See, I'm so used to using the grene screne like a REAL MAN (HUUAAAH!) that I didn't even know what the other option(s) was(were). Grean screan for the fucking W.

I imagine that when the world finally comes to an end, and everything just goes crashing down into the burning abyss, the entire sky will turn into a sort of giant Windows blue screen... only, it'll be green.
Hey, they show Dinner for one here too, every single New year. Only we call it "The countess and the butler", because we're usually more right than everyone else like that.

Or you could come back in your next life as a cute widdle kitten, and avoid the quest for a gigantic turtle/fat sister altogether.

Most of those shows sucked. I liked them back then as a 10 year old kid, but can't watch them now.
Pete and Pete is a big exception. I actually have the first season on DVD because I'm such a fucking nerd.

haha i ALMOST posted Rocko's Modern Life before I saw P&P in the related videos.
I would totally be down to watch an entire season of that. In fact... this is a good idea.

Actually she's an Icelandic comedian. And all of Iceland kept it ABSOLUTELY QUIET before and way after Eurosong. Apparently she also ruined Holland's rehearsals over there by screaming and being a bitch and everything. I love Iceland.
I love Iceland.

I like Iceland, too. And I've never heard of her before.

Haha, yea I do know she's a comedian. but the way the entire bloody nation kept it up still makes it worth trying now and again.
