Despite Lord Worm's last few albums with Cryptopsy he was a fucking god when they created their first two albums.

He was always saying he didn't like the direction Cryptopsy took after None So Vile, and how he didn't like the fact that he never made any money while in the band.
Still, first two Cryptopsy records shine.
Now they're looking for a singer who can do clean vocals as well as all the prerequisite growls.

They're also looking for a keyboardist too. Bad sign. I wonder if they'll turn into Opeth or something.
I don't really care, "None So Vile" is the only record from them I remotely like.

I highly doubt they're turn out like Opeth. I imagine they aren't looking for super crisp clean vocal sound, probably something a bit harsher.
Does anyone have a press release or something I can read?

Opeth Come on!
Lord Worm's voice has never been great or anything, but his stage presence is among the best, so in that respect it's a downer. His attitude is pretty well crap though, I mean they play brutal death metal and he doesn't like the direction they took after NSV, yet he complains about money? Unless you're Morbid Angel and perhaps Nile, forget about money in death metal. It's the wrong reason to play that type of music.

If it was done correctly, the addition of clean singing could be awesome, but usually when bands do that it never works out the way it should. Martin La Croix (sp?) was decent, I heard they booted him cause he was a poor English speaker, dumb decision.

Yeah they got rid of him because he was limited in English and couldn't write good enough lyrics like Worm or DiSalvo, I think it was kinda extreme a reason to boot him out of the band, as it could have been worked out somehow, I mean he sounds fine on None So Live.
I heard Alex Auburn is doing some kind of an instructional guitar DVD, should be kinda cool.

Last few? You do realize that Once Was Not was his only album after None So Vile?
Anyway, I don't really think this is so bad. I didn't mind his vocals on OWN, but they weren't really great, and judging from several interviews, it didn't seem like he was into the music anymore. Hell, he even said he considered it a job and nothing more if I remember right.

Damn! That sucks! I really liked Lord Worm's style. Not much at all on OWN, but on NSV and even BMF I thoroughly enjoyed it. After OWN's assfagging, I was hoping they would fuck up and made something much better, with an older style of music and vocals. Guess not hey. The keyboard idea sounds faggot. I really don't think any synth will suit Cryptopsy, only for slower/more ambient/even jazz parts, but they wouldn't get a keyboardist so he just stands there more than half the time. I think they will get even fucking gayer, which is not good.

OWN kicked immense amounts of ass. I don't know what you fucks are talking about. Cryptopsy with clean vocals does not sound appealing to me. However, if they ever came to Austin, I would not hesitate to see em live.

I never saw DiSalvo live, but Lord Worm didn't particularly impress me as a frontman (and he certainly doesn't do a good job vocally live). I'm more interested in what Cryptopsy intend to do with a more varied vocalist (it could be brilliant, but it could easily turn them into a generic band, since every band I see at any given local show has either a scream/singer or a screamer and a singer these days) than I am in the fact that there's no more Lord Worm. My favorite stuff was without him, anyway. Levasseur leaving was a big deal; both times Lord Worm left haven't meant much to me.

He is saying that he would enjoy the album far more with a stereotypical death metal vocalist instead of Lorm Worm's mumbling. I agree. I think None So Vile is a brilliant album apart from this.

This band first of all, needs a good solid death metal vocalist, none of this wishy washy, unique rubbish they wanted. They also need to get their music back into the right direction, thats both a writing issue and a production issue. Once Was Not was a VERY average album, it should be no feat in making a better one. Any album, prior to Once Was Not, was either great or excellent, thats what we want god damnit!

Di Salvo was the best thing to happen to Cryptopsy after Jon Lavasseur joining.

I say they should get Di Salvio back. Or if they want a vocalist with a good range of styles get ex Psycroptic vocalist Chalky. I think that be sick.

Indeed, same, I used to think Worm was the heart and soul of Cryptopsy, but I've changed my mind. I'm still far more concerned about their guitarists though, after their guitarist left I became pretty worried they'd go in a different direction...

Word. None So Vile is deffinatly a brilliant album apart from that, I think it was a milestone in technical death metal. I got Once Was Not when it came out, and lets just say I havnt listened to it since the day I baught it. Its okay, just nothing special.

I feel the same way. At first I dug it, but coming back to it.. he doesn't do a very good job at all. He was also a bit boring live - he was having some problems with his back apparently though. He sounded pretty weak either way.

I love what he did on NSV, it's one of my favourite albums. This was something different and absolutely fitted the music. But OWN was horrible. There are some good riffs in it but that is not the quality Cryptopsy used to be. They sound like some teen garage band - probably it's the production matter. That's just my personal impression.
Wish they bring Di Salvo back, or maybe again they make some suprise and bring up somebody unlike previous vocalists.
