nobuo uematsu
I had no idea where to post this.
Also I don't know if anyone's heard of him.
http://www.nobuouematsu.com/bio.html
This guy has written music for several video games, most notable is the Final Fantasy series. He even started a metal (which I haven't heard yet) and played keyboards for them. Only reason this is all shocking to me, this is an old guy who loves metal, and has gotten rich from doing something he loves.
In anycase, here's a couple versions of One Winged Angel
Final Fantasy VII One Winged Angel (Eminence Symphony)

Some random stuff with the best version of this piece

I have the Advent Children Soundtrack, and I've heard some of the ff X soundtrack, there's hasn't been anything this guy has written, that I don't like.

I've only played FFX, and the soundtrack was pretty good. The Blitzball theme from it was definitely metal. It reminded me of Rammstein.

haha, well you do realize he wrote a song that Rammstein was featured on?
And for some strange reason they are listed in your favorite bands.

The FFVII soundrack is awesome. I occaisionally kick back and listen to the original midis.
The Black Mages is the rock/metal band he formed, and its really quite good. I would only recommend it to people who know they like FF music though. Most of the people I've played it to just find it annoying. I have both their albums.
The one winged angel links were great by the way.

he's a great composer to me.the thought of performing the sephiroth theme with a complete orchestra has got to be the most thrilling experience.

Ah man, I love this guy's music. Obviously has to be a big influence on me as I was a total gaming nut when I was a kid, especially old-school RPGs. The Chrono Trigger soundtrack will always be one of my favorite things to listen to, ever.

The fact that the last time I heard Rammstein playing their own strange and bizarre (in a bad way) material, on MTV, and Sirius, verifies that they in fact could be an awesome band, if they had help writing all their songs. IMO
But all that is based only on three songs I've heard, so they might have some good material, but so far the best song I have heard them play wasn't even written by them.
Anyways you came in this thread with a negative, and pretty solid view on things, albeit ridiculous, but solid, so there's no reason to argue.
Have a nice day, or whatever the hell it is over there.

Awesome, glad the majority of people here like his music. I'm certainly going to have to check out the rest of his works.

I am obsessed with the guy. I've been analyzing the music from FFVI in my free time for a couple of months now.

Check some of The Black Mages albums if you haven't already checked it. I have their "The Skies Above" album and it's fucking awesome.
