New Linux OS (Beryl)
Check out the new linux OS codename Beryl
http://youtube.com/watch?v=lawkc3jH3ws
It's pretty badass. The multiple desktops are sweet! GUI is very nice and rendered and doesn't require alot of processing power. Apparently it is alot more efficient than Vista or XP.

it looks awesome, but do i really want/need 4 desktops on one computer? but it does look very cool and looks like it runs smoothly aswell. especially on his machine which is older than mine.

fuck linux, im staying winxp or vista when it comes out, ive never tried linux, how does it run? ive heard its bad for gaming.
EDIT: just checked out the video, wouldnt that cost a large amount of processing power and ram just to run all of the desktop switching and so forth? also i think theyve slightly abused the floppness of the windows.
other than that it looks nice, i prefer the look of vista though

Ooooooh aaaaaah. Doesn't impress me at all. Sure it looks cool and all that but i am old school. I don't want amazing graphics in a gui. I want simplicity and functionality.
Even on XP i remove all that standard XP bullshit. That gay ass start bar and all that. I go back to the standard 98 looking gui

Same here. It's easier on your machine dumbing down the graphics n shit. Vista uses alot of memory for it's pretty stuff like that.

Bit gimmicky- the wobbling windows looks rubbish, and the cube switching thing isn't anything new. Having multiple desktops is great- work on one, web on another, music on another etc. no more clogged up taskbars etc. Best thing i ever did with linux, is get rid of the desktop- no icons, nothing, you just don't use it. Writing and designing your own menu system is great too, has all the things i need in easy reach. Beryl won't be getting my seal of approval- not minimalist

Unix, Linux or any kind of open source operating systems is more suitable for the high end users. Windows by the way is suitable for any user especially the low ends.My opinion would be that its cool to have an operating system for advance users with cool graphics that could match up windows vista.

It's just a window manager.. wobbly windows.. pretty shitty if you ask me. And this is "innovative"? Hell.
I'll stick to my XFCE, it just never fails, and it's so simple my GF can use it without trouble.

It's not really that difficult to memorize 12 letters. I have like 8 passwords that are completely randon and longer than that.

What are you talking about? Neither Fluxbox or Beryl are operating systems. They are window managers for Linux.

It looks cool...but honestly, all of that flashy shit has absolutely no function other than showing your friends.

After watching the video for the second time I noticed that the OS he was using is ubuntu. The Berly isn't an OS it is merely a window manager or more virtual desktops.
