On the first HE album however there are some anti-religious themes eg: "Dogma Condemned", but you'll find that 90% of the best known so-called "Satanic" death metal bands really make no mention of Satan or a supreme evil deity at all. Most established bands seem to have outgrown the theme, turning to plain anti religious themes and the remainder that still use it like Deicide just use it as a horror or humorous theme, not trying to put some real meaning through with it.

Those who go by the 'Satanist' label embrace Satan not as an actual entity, but rather a concept... ie, the de-establishment of Christianity and a supposed 'freedom and enlightenment' (well, in their eyes, at least). |
