There was a shooting just now at my school. I was literally 100 feet away from it walking to class.

I'm now held up in the building directly next to the one where all the shootings happened.

I was walking to class with food in my hand when i heard like 5 shots within about 100 feet of me and i was like "probably a good idea to turn around" so i calmly turned around and walked the other direction as swat and police like a mother fucker were running up.

So we gathered in this like department head room and i watched the whole thing out of a window.

Yeah at least one dead. I watched them carry out like 7 people covered in blood and i think isaw the dead guy.

They're now saying there is a bomb threat and there might be a second shooter.

There was 2 shootings like 2 hours apart. (no idea how the fuck that happened)..

I was walking with my breakfast and i saw some cop cars and an abulence (no big deal) so i was walking then i heard a bunch of yelling behind the building i was in front of. So i perked my ears up a lil and kept walking. Well i got right out in front of the building where it all happened then like 5 shots went off.

When the shots went off i saw a cop in front of me. Then by the time i had turned around to walk away 3 came up with pistols pulled tactically going to the scene. About 5 minutes later at least 20 cops were there including the swat van.

Nah. I don't think there are cameras anywhere really. Although there was one above the drill field. Big deal. Wouldn't capture anything. Although there are alot of cell phone pictures going around and on CNN there was somebody who recorded the gun shots on their cell phone. They were sitting out in front of the campus burger king (opposite side of hte building i as at, they were about the same distance from it all as me) and they recorded the cops going in and shooting and stuff.

As of right now i don't see anywhere where they are releasing names of any of the people but it willc ome out soon enough. Hopefully not anybody i know..

I would imagine people around here if crazy enough to shoot up a schoolt hey would probably kill this many people even by themselves. There are alot of people knowledgeable with weapons around here. (not a bad thing generally) but who knows who the shooter was or why he did what he did.

When there's somebody, somewhere, with a gun shooting at people, there's not much aikido can do. The Marine Corps also doesn't teach you how to take out an assailant at an undisclosed location when he is armed and you are holding some food. But people who believe that they can do something in that situation tend to end up very dead.

The dorm shooting may have included people that were affiliated with the shooter but at Norris i highly highly doubt it. that is a damn good question! you would think they'd put the whole place on lock down and be patrolling everywhere not long after they arrived on the scene. does you school have its own police station and police force? my college did..and it wasn't just some college "police" squad..they were real police with real badges, guns, etc. they are a small force though and would have trouble securing the whole campus..but it wouldn't take but a few minutes for the city police to arrive and take over.

Maybe a poor security force or something like that. You really cant be that prepared for something like this when a crazed man starts shooting at random. But the response time could have been better I guess. I still cant believe this happened though. Plus they're saying this is even deadlier than the Columbine shooting which was pretty fucked up. That pscyho should defintely get the fucking chair.

the thing is..columbine wasn't even the worst one. in texas in 1966 was the previous worst school shooting ever. i forgot how many people died..but it was more than columbine for sure. the media seems to paint this type of situation as a problem that is fairly recent and always asks "what is wrong with kids today?"..the reality of it is that times haven't changed as much as many people think.

This is most definitely true. I saw an article at one time. Maybe the last school shooting talking about how shootings in schools are on the decrease. (over time)

yea, that is one thing that struck me about this incident. most of the time when someone with little or no training goes and does something like this, they usually only kill a few people. he was either a damn good shot, or had a shitload of bullets and plenty of time to reload.

Holy shit, this is terrible. Just heard about it when I got home from class. Sounds like turning around was definitely the right idea! I've heard a lot of stuff on the news that they think he was looking around for his girlfriend. Theres a slightly similar case that happend back in early 90s with a Chinese physics student named Gang Lu at The University of Iowa where he killed (I think) five people. If I recall correctly he was pissed that his diseertation didn't get enough attention and blamed it on that, but its obvious that that was probably just the straw that broke the camels back. Competition and pressure can really send people over the edge.

They're of course going to have some unqualified ape find some scapegoat to put people at ease because not knowing the sole reason why it happened scares people (and there usually isn't one).

Tell me about it, when I was in high school we had a instantaneous lockdown that lasted from 7 in the morning until lunchtime because a "supposed" serial killer was in the area. The fact that the entire school wasn't on alert right away after the first bodies were discovered does suck. I guess nobody expected crazy shit like this to happen but fuck, when does anyone ever.
And it is crazy how fast he got to the other side of the campus in a short amount of time, but that's just what massive amounts of adrenaline and the will to kill can do to a person, I guess.
It also just fathomed on me how many people he went for. I mean the death count is already over 30, and there's like 30 more injured. So he must have shot like at least 60 people during the whole thing. The fact that he only used two pistols in this whole thing is pretty insane also.

I can relate to that. My high school got about 2-3 bomb threats throught one year alone...and that's the worst my school has probably faced. The last one sucked because it was very very very fucking cold and rainy; the bomb threat started before buses arrived, so as soon as we left them we had to sit outside in the parking lot until after lunch. I didn't make it that long, and went home with strep throat after about 2-3 hours (I didn't even have a jacket on, just pants and a rain soaked shirt so I got sick)

I'm not the slightest bit worried. But unfortunately everybody is quite like i am.
But nah. To my knowledge don't know of anybody. They released the name and it doesn't mean anything to me. There are so many asians at this campus its ridiculous. Not just that but like full asian families living in these student apartments. Seems like a pretty crummy place to live for a family, even though they are decient apartments.

Its just what happens when you live in a large country with alot of pressure to succeed and fit in. (as i see it) I'm not, and still not the slightest bit worried about school shootings, but i'm well aware that many don't follow that same thought.

I dunno the response time wasn't that bad to be honest. What i think is bad is how he got 100 shots off and killed himself before they even got in the building. I would have grabbed a team of maybe 4 others and went in. But like what was said before, had somebody been packing heat it would have been a different story. People get upset about well-publicized tragedy, because most people are horrified by any kind of human suffering or death and get outraged whenever they hear about it. It's the exact same principle (i.e. publicized violence) at work in in most of the incidents that make America look bad on the world stage. If it works there it's going to work here. Sorry if that makes you sad in the pants.
