New Nile Album
Nile mainman Karl Sanders has issued the following update:
"We are currently finishing the mixes on the new Nile album entitled "Ithyphallic" , our first album for Nuclear Blast . So far we have been nothing but thrilled to work with the entire cast at NB , they have treated us exceptionally well and have given the band a Ferocious and Inspirational new lease on life. Dallas , George and I are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that this new record contains our best material yet , and Neil Kernon is working overtime to ensure that every single blasphemous Note is heard in alll its Primal Savagery.
There are 9 songs and one short acoustic piece , 2 of which are epic length songs , yet overall a wide range of tempos , some doomy , exotic elements as well as some unbelievably fast and catchy Metal .
A few song titles :
"Language of the Shadows"
"Even the Gods must Die"
"The Infinity of Stone"
"Ithyphallic"
"Papyrii containg the Spell to Preserve its Possessor against attacks from He who is in the Water"
"Language of the Shadows"

"The Infinity of Stone"
"Ithyphallic"
"Papyrii containg the Spell to Preserve its Possessor against attacks from He who is in the Water"
"We are, as could be expected, very much looking forward to our upcoming Australian tour. Our last tip down under went exceptionally well and we can't wait to play again for the rabid Aussie metal fans. We will also indeed be bringing the NILE brand of ithyphallic metal to the uninitiated masses at the summer Ozzfest, and, quite welcomely, playing our own NILE headlining shows for the off Ozz days. We are also anxious for the European NILE fall tour that is in the works where we will finally be able to play a nice long NILE set covering a wide range of material from all our albums."
NILE's new album is being recorded at Sound Lab Studios in Columbia, South Carolina. The band's last CD, "Annihilation of the Wicked" album, was released in May 2005 via Relapse Records. A video for the album track "Sacrifice Unto Sebek" was shot on location in Atlanta, GA by director Chad Rullman (Mastodon's "March of the Fire Ants", The Agony Scene) for Supercollider Films.
Support on NILE's Australian tour will come from Polish technical death metal sensations Decapitated.
Good news, this is.

Damn. Now I'm not the only person ever to have used the word 'ithyphallic' on the forum. You have no idea how much this depresses me. The album better be fucking tits.

Nile is a pornogrind band now.
Isn't an ithyphallic erection a certain something from a ritual of some kind? I don't know where I heard this but I think it is....

If what you all say is true, the title of the album is rather gay!
However, it IS Nile, so I'll let it slide. This time..

What a great point, except I do I think there are better album titles they could have used, such as ones that don't include the word "phallic" in it. But oh, maybe I'm wrong.

I already know what all the riffs sound like. It's just a matter of order.

Any word on the release date? Aside from the songs, I'm interested in seeing what the artwork looks like too, as always.

That doesn't really mean anything though, that's what they all say when they are about to release a new album. On the other hand, you'll need to say stuff like that in order to draw people's attention, so I don't blame. Oh well, it'll probably be great as they say anyway.

Yeah, you must have read no more than 2 pre-release / press release statements in your life because every band always says the new one is their best material ever. Except Big Black, who said this one was still good but not as good as their last one. They are my gods simply for that fact.

As long as they are still not afraid to slow it down every now and then, this should be another good album.

When Nile go slow I think they suck more than they already do. Having said that - Dont get me wrong I love slow stuff aswell. But Nile aren't a band to do that. Having said that once more, Lashed to the Slave Stick is my favourite song by them. Having said that once more again, I think Nile suck.

I think that Nile pull off the slower parts quite well, and it's refreshing sometimes after solid blasting for a few minutes.

Nile kicks ass at slow parts. It goes well with their whole Egyptian theme.
Their slow parts always show off the extreme heaviness of their sound.

They need to make sure that this album is rip-roaringly fast. While still being good - and containing some of the best songs they've ever comitted to record (mostly the fast ones) - AOTW seemed slower than anything they've ever done.
Crank it up!

Ehh, no, I'd prefer a little more variety on this next record. As much as I loved AOTW it's not a step forward in their career, the pretty much dug themselves in a rut with that one, hopefully they'll do something a little more daring next time around because I don't want to hear ITDS and AOTW riffs all over again.

I agree...espicially when they have Kolias as a drummer, that guy is a machine and they should put him to good use. An album full of songs like "Cast Down the Heretic" (minus the ridiculous wank solo) would be pretty sweet IMO.
I'm sick of the epic songs too....Unas was awesome, but they went kinda overkill on AOTW...3 songs longer then 8 mins was too much, the only one that needed that length was the title track.

Yeah, I agree with you there. That's why AOTW seems quite a bit slower than the previous albums since those songs were all mid pace with only a few fast parts.
We defintely need to hear Kollias let his hair down on this album.

New album! hope its much better than AoTW. I love slow parts coz it sounded much heavier and its kinda balance the fast paced riffs and drums. NIle pull that shit very well in my opinion along with CC.
