So i found this site the other day where it explained how to make a ring out of a coin. so i went and dug out all my nana's old money, chose a one florian silver piece from 1923 and began to make it, took all afternoon, purely because i was chatting on msn at the same time haha but i took some pics. basically you turn it on its side and tap it on its edge with a hammer until the edges start to thicken, it should looks like it does in the pics, then eventually when its the right thickness and will fit your finger still, you drill a hole in it, polish it (or leave it if you go for the dented look), finish drilling out the centre, and i used a file to get it to the right size, then i used wet & dry sandpaper to smooth it all and polished it up. i'm not really a ring wearing kind of guy but it looks great and fits PERFECTLY.

Here is some of your average scenery around queensland. At least the middle portion of queensland semi-near the coast.

The trees in Queensland are definitely unlike anything they have in the states. The closest one might say the scenery would look like would be something in the south west of america, in the semi-desert like environments. There is often a shit load of brush with skinny trees that bend off in absolutely intense directions, with little to no coverage on them. Granted its also the winter/Dry season there so maybe that has something to do with it.

The coast definitely had some really kick ass scenery. There was definitely an increase in hills the closer you got to the ocean.

I didn't get too much wildlife pics. I got a pic of a group of kangaroos but it sucks and you can't tell what it is.

This wasp was fucking huge. Word around the camp fire is that its poisonous and comes in pairs.

This centipede was just chillin there. I poked it with a leaf to see if it was alive and it was just sleeping or something. I definitely wasn't going to fucking touch it, because generally centipedes are poisonous/sting.

Caterpiller
This caterpillar was just walkin along and it was cool as shit. It looks like a fucking porcupine.

These cars were by far the ugliest thing i had witnessed and they are extremely fucking popular there. Imagine a regular car, chop off the back and put a flat bed truck bed... What the fuck? haha They actually don't have "regular" i guess "american" styled trucks, mostly refering to the beds of the trucks. They are all flat beds with sides that come up max 12 inches. And the fact they have low rider versions of these cars blows my mind further.

Landrovers
They have billions of these landrover and landrover like vehicles. Nearly all of them have the snorkles that go over the roof of the car. Is there THAT many people in queensland that are fording through 6 foot of water?

here is a bunch of the typical cars. Other than the trucks and landrovers they have almost exclusively japanese cars and Fords. Occasionally you'll see BMWs and Lexus cars. I also so skylines which they dont' sell in the US.

Food
This is pics of typical food or "lost in translation" food items.

They ate chow that was good as hell every day. It was all fresh cooked right on the spot and there was plenty of variety. Btw that sandwich thing is a typical AUS hamburger. It was fairly good.

Australian Soup
In australia all the soups that i had were not like american soups. They were all EXTREMELY hearty soups. Not nearly as much "broth" that they do in the states. Very chunky like. I can't remember what was in this particular soup but it was alright.

"Bacon Burger"
Warning: When you go to australia make sure you KNOW what you're asking for or they are advertising. This is a definite case of translation issues between the States and Australia. My friends asked for "Bacon Burgers" thinking they were going to get a hamburger with bacon on it when in reality they literally got.. a bacon burger. Bacon on bread. They made sure to ask for cheese because apparently its not the normal thing to have cheese on hamburgers there.

This is definitely something you would see in like Rainbow Six for multiplayer maps.

Tysons Corner
This is Tysons Corner in Northern Virginia just outside DC. Its one of the largest commercial places (i hear) in the United States. Needless to say traffic near this place is obnoxious.

I did see one spider. I heard some people seing snakes. Basically everybody was deathly afraid of the spiders and snakes because we recieved a culture brief and they listed about 20 spiders and snakes and nearly all of them were fatal within like an hour. haha

My friend said they saw some spider, went up to a corpsman and asked whether it was poisonous and he said it was definitely one that if it had bitten them would have killed them within the hour.

The centipede was probably about 5-6 inches long. The wasp was like seriously 3 inches long. It was fucking huge.

Haha, that was extremely amusing to see an American's perspective as a tourist of Australia!
What do typical American utes look like? I didn't think there were that much of a differance between the two. But yeah, where you were in Queensland is much more rural in comparison to Sydney and Melbourne, so much more land-cruisers, utes, etc. The stilts are indeed for flash-flooding too.

I heard about the military exercises off Queensland, had no idea USMC were involved.

Lol @ tmfreak being typical American nub. Me in America: omgosh, all the cars are so big, a country of compensators! Our household owns one of those 'Landcruiser things', without the funnel though. I hardly ever see Landcruisers with funnels here in Sydney.

Problematic: The landcruisers and the landcrusier like vehicles is obviously (At least in queensland) their equivalent to american SUVs. It appears to be obvious that by no means does everybody need such off roading ability and like i said nearly every one of them had snorkles on them that went over the roof. That area of Australia definitely reminded me of the american south in alot of ways, equally just as different.
