Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown, and Art of Fighting were all good fighting games. I'll take Street Fighter over them any day of the week, though.
I'd also take the 2D MK games over SF. Does anyone else remember Primal Rage or Killer Instinct? Those games fucking ruled.

Yes, I didn't have Primal Rage..although my friend did, didn't it first come out on Genesis? Was it even for SNES?
I owned Killer Instinct though, I remember those graphics were fucking phenomenal in those days.

You couldn't even touch me. I was nasty to the point where people would refuse to play me because the outcome was predetermined. I used to beat the game on the highest destiny (Supreme, I think) and then choose the question mark that makes you fight all the ninjas (Scorpion, Reptile, Human Smoke, Old Sub-Zero, Ermac, Noob Saibot, Rain, AND Chameleon) in an Endurance match, which I would then win flawlessly before knocking Chameleon's stupid ass into the Dead Pool, which for some reason was the predetermined stage for that prize.

Primal Rage was out on the Genesis, but I don't see how you could play it on the 3 button controller. If you had a six button, no problem. It was better on the SNES, better graphics and everything. That game had the most unique engine I've ever seen... no other fighter of that period had you execute special moves and fatalities in a way even close to that one.

Just being able to see SNK characters revamped and looking fucking awesome because of Capcom's talented artists.

All the games u mentioned were amazing.
Killer Instinct owned my balls for 7 years straight. That shit is so addictive. Its the reason why I have had my SNES for 10 years but my mom threw it away after me and my brother were arrested for throwing R15 fireworks at this Czechslovakian dude's house cuz he was a dick.
but so far the craziest 2d fighter for me now is King Of Fighters XI.

primal rage was a favorite of mine, good god i spent hours on that game, i think the character was named vertigo, the snake looking guy, him and the raptor were my faves.

Was never big into SNK so i went with capcom. Gotta love the classic characters.
Reminds me of the days i actually used to play in an arcade. I haven't been to an arcade since like 11th grade. Then before that it was like 6th grade.

I have this game for Gameboy (green and black screened version) and for PC. The pc version was sick as fuck but the lasting appeal wasnt that good. but I loved eating the people.
