List the Demos that most changed specific generas or gave new life to dying ones.
i.e.
Death Metal: All Death's Demos
Black Metal: Zyklon-B - Blood Will Be Shed
etc.

Yeah well I too was going for sales. I'm sure if it was influencial as far as sound and writing wise I'd like alot less death metal.

Mercyful Fate's untitled demos and Venom's untitled demos were extremely influential. Venom's demos influenced generations of extremely popular thrash, death, and black metal acts, including Slayer, Metallica, and Death. Mercyful Fate's demos not only influenced future acts, but had a large influence even among their own peers, most notably Metallica.
I'd wager that they were considerably more influential than Death or Morbid Angel or any other band already listed just for sheer volume of demos made and availability thereof. Personally, though, I do enjoy those Death and Morbid Angel demos and I never did get into Venom.

Damn right about the Mercyful Fate. They had probably more influence on extreme metal than anyone, as they bridged the gap between NWOBHM and the newer (at the time) styles of metal.
