What song for begin to play black metal ?
Hi everybody,
well I'm a beginner guitarist, yeah a true beginner since 3 years ago..
I don't have much for this 3 years, perhaps one times by month so i'm not a good beginner...
As this moment I can only play some songs, but not very well, as example back to school from Deftones, refuse/resist from Sepultura and Lugburz from Summoning.
I particuliary like black metal so I have try some of my favoriste song , as example funeral in carpathia from Cradle of Filth but I have difficultie to chain speed note between the strings.
So I like to know what song is "better" for beginnig to play black metal, for play quick on one strings and when changing strings.
I hope this not an another boring post for you.
Thanks.

Since all black metal revolves around tremolo picking, the best thing to do is to tremolo some scales.
Good song to start on would probably be Burzum - Ea, Lord of the Depths.

or some Darkthrone songs.... but they are boring.

for each note.... I'd say roughly 4 times. Atleast for the intro, that is.
----------------------------------------------
---------------44443333----------------------
-----------5555--------4444--------------------
------5555-----------------4444--------------
-3333---------------------------2222-----------
-------------------------------------------------
The following parts differ in the number of times per note. Make sure you listen to the song closely to figure it out.
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger is a simple song that uses tremolo picking. It's all written on 2 lines, but still manages to sound Sweet!

but none of the tabs for that song are correct, and the rhythm is wierd... so it might be wierd to get around.
Try ANY burzum, Jesus Dod is a good one for trem picking over different strings.
My first black metal song was Fuel for Hatred by Satyricon, real easy, and is good to learn sliding chords with.
Other than that, anything from Behemoth Satanica... Hail Murder by Dark funeral... and any darkthrone.

You really can't get much easier than Dunkelheit by Burzum. You could also try Transylvanian Hunger by Darkthrone, that one is particularly good practice for tremelo picking and stamina.

Darkthrone songs but don't limit yourself to songs that you find easy, try playing the songs you find hard (not extremely hard, of course!).

I'd go with "I Am The Black Wizards" by Emperor.
Even that classic riff has string skipping and tremelo skills covered. Plus, it's fun as hell to play.

^ +1 for I am the Black Wizards and the main rhythm from the Loss and Curse of Reverence is good practice, too

darkthrone, as everyone has said. Seriously, lots of tremolo and very repetitive.

I'd like to thank the creator and everyone else who's posted because I was going to make a similar thread... love black metal, but have the same amount of experience.
I just suck at tremelo :S

Try Marduk songs. They're so fucking easy, but if you need help with tremolo picking, there's nothing more appropriate.
