NFL Playoff Thread
I can't believe there is not a playoff thread.....so I'll make one now. Anyways, the Colts just beat the Ravens. I didn't expect that at all. Predictions for Eagles/Saints?
24-20 Saints. However, I wouldn't mind a blowout.
Tomorrow should be exciting. I'll take the chargers over the patriots and the seahawks over the bears.

hah that colts/ravens game was fucking ugly! field goal show down! i was expecting a higher scoring game.
i pretty much don't care who wins any of the games..i just hope they are good ones. i'm a redskins fan, but not a die-hard one. the northern va/dc area was where i lived the longest before down here (and i'm not a fan of the dolphins) so i just root for them. the super bowl is down here this year..but i'm sure the tickets have long been sold out..not to mention, expensive as hell!

I've had to work every Sunday (except 1) during the entire football season, so I didn't get to watch or listen to any of the games. Without the ability to see or hear any of the action, I didn't feel it necessary to follow what was going on. I'm not even going to get to see the Pats/Chargers game today because I start work just before it starts. I'll get to see some Seahawk on Bear action, though.

This Chicago/Seattle game is pretty exciting so far. I am rather impressed with Grossman and that 68 yard pass......after all that negative press. I don't really care who wins this game. I chose Seattle previously because I am a die hard Dallas fan and after that FUCKIN STUPID CUNT OF A GAME.....I can't even finish that sentence I'm so pissed.
San Diego/Patriots 'el be something else. THIS IS the best week of football, so I highly recommend any person with a television to watch the best of the best duke it out.

HAHAHA Eagles fucking suck. Choking is what they do best.
After last night's game I'm pulling for the Saints. Reggie Bush is a madman. (Except for that really bad fumble towards the end. Not that it mattered, because the EAGLES FUCKING SUCK.)

I was shitting my pants today at work. The store manager is a huge Bears fan though and was playing the radio over the intercom as they won.
Two more wins and I'll be a happy man. If the Bears lose, I'll just be rooting against the Colts.

I had customers informing me of score updates all game last night. It sounded like a great game. I also saw the highlights of the game on the news last night, and it looked like a real cliffhanger. I also got to watch the entire first half of the Bears/Seahawks game before I had to get ready for work, and I left when the game was tied 21-21. My customers told me it went into overtime and was quite the game in it's own right.

Hell yea, the divisional playoff games are always the best. There was not one shitty game this weekend (maybe colts/ravens because it was all field goals, but twas still exciting to watch).
So, the games are
Colts/Patriots
Bears/Saints
I'll go for Colts and Bears. Fuck Tom Brady. The only team I really like that is left is the Bears.

Out of all those teams, I'm gonna be pulling for the Saints. No one likes dynasties (patriots ).
If the Titans can get Vince Young (rookie of the year bitch!) some more-than-competant recievers for the next season...

For Sho'. Being from Texas, I love Vince Young. The local cable stations stopped playing the Houston Texans games for Titans simply because Young is the quarterback. I'm just waiting for him to get knocked the fuck out when he takes off running. It is only a matter of time before someone comes up to him and gives him a good wallop.

Dude, you missed that play in the patriot's game, the last game of the Titan's season. He threw an interception, then ran up to the defender and clothes-lined him, like a fucking pro wrestler. He's a tough guy.

True. If they can get their shit together they'll be giving the Colts a run for their money next season. Vince already proved he's fucking great.
Funny how Bush won the Heismen and Young won Rookie of the Year. And both were 2nd for the one's they didn't win.

Vince already won it. I wish Hester would have, but the whole special teams thing probably threw him off the ballot.

yea, that game fuckin rocked. I'm feel happy for Peyton finally beating Brady in the playoffs. The Colts came back 18 points which is the largest deficit overcome in a Coference Championship game.
SuperBowl predictions? Well, I really can't make any because Rex Grossman is so inconsistant. For the Colts, it really depends on their defense (which has been doing quite well for the past few games). I just hope the game is close.

He's a big dude!! He's everything Michael Vick is, minus the selfish bullshit, and way stronger.

I've got the Colts over the Bears by a field goal. Manning will finally prove he is every bit as great as people say he isn't.

peyton did nothing. the pats were destroying the colts and the only reason indy won was because we had 4 starters go down on defense from dehydration and fatigue (apparently half of the team had the flu). the pats had to play 3rd string inside linebacker eric alexander at safety in the second half, and as a result dallas clark carved us up. peyton was in full choke mode up until that point. but hey injuries/illnesses are part of the game, so i guess thats just the way she goes. look out for next year though. the pats have 2 first round picks, several young players who are up and coming (man coverage on reggie wayne from eliss hobbs? holy shit.), oh and they are already 18 million under the cap. in fact i think the afc east will be really tough next year ( the jets and bills are also significantly under the cap), heh that is except for miami who is really going to suck. the pats will be back, but until then...GO BEARS!!!

BEARS BEARS BEARS BEARS.
I've been waiting my whole life for this (born in 86). If the defense that showed up against the Saints comes in against the Colts, Peyton's done.

Sports commentators are going to be pissed that the teams with the best narratives both lost. Of course, we're going to be the ones to suffer when they bust out all sorts of esoteric stats to make up for their being at a loss for what to say.
Which is why you should watch the Super Bowl in a crowded bar on Chicago's South Side, surrounded by off-duty cops drunkenly screaming and acting out every noteworthy play. Much better than hearing the commentary.

Commentators are fucking retarded. They are ALWAYS wrong. Saying stuff like, "Well what we meant when we said the Bears don't have what it takes was...blah blah blah."
Everyone is always against Chicago. Even when the fucking Sox were winning in the 9th inning of game 4 being up 3 games to none commentators were doubting that they would win.

madden is a funny guy to listen to. hes showing signs of his age.. sometimes he'll start rambling about who knows what, sometimes he just trails off, and other times he just makes the most obvious and unnecessary comments ever! "that touchdown really helped them out, if they get some more of them, they'll have a lot of points..and with a lot of points, they just might win this football game." ahhh i didn't realize points helped you win games...or that you needed more than the other team... I fucking hate Joe Buck. Legend has it, his dad Jack was GREAT. How his offspring proved to be such an unholy douche is beyond me. Nobody but nobody is worse than Tim McCarver, though.

Joe Buck's reaction to Randy Moss' fake mooning of the Packer fans was the most retarded thing I've ever heard a commentator say (I think he got turned on). Other than about 1 in every 3 comments Bill Walton makes. He takes the cake for all time idiot.

I forget who he was talking about in the playoffs last year, I think it was Indy vs. the Bengals. Anyway, he called a receiver "Tyrannosaurus" when he didn't stetch his hands out to make a grab. Fucking funny!

so what are you fruits making to eat while the game is on? my main concern is good beer and really hot wings. i've already bought a couple bottles of very hot wing sauce, now i just need to figure out where i'll be getting wings from..and how much my friends and roommates will be throwing down. basstendencies is coming over and hes a good cook, so i'm sure he'll be making some good shit..i just forgot what he said he was gonna make. still haven't narrowed down the beer selection..but i'm thinking about trying some great divide hercules double ipa i think its called. other than that..i guess i'll just go by gut instinct and pick something out at random. i wish monday wasn't a work day..i'd drink a lot of beer..but i have to work in the morning..and later that day i've got a job interview.

As do I!
As for food. I'll be too stressed to really eat. We'll see by half time if the Bears are up by 20 or so.

I like how the the Colts owner and Tony Dungy think that God wrathfully struck down the Patriots and made the Colts win the game. Yep. Gotta love that reasoning.
I think Bears will win because defence seems to be more important at top level games.

Bears defense is gonna have to do a better job of getting to the quarterback than they did in the last couple of games or they'll be in trouble.
I'm having chilli dogs and beer.

That dude would have a life-ending stroke if he had to deal with another year of T.O.

What a boring game. The best part was definatley the half time show. Too bad Prince didn't play "when doves cry."

I thought it was much more entertaining than last year's. The weather definitely caused the turnover and made it more like a playoff game than a Superbowl. The Bears hung in there for most of it even though they were getting pounded, again due to the weather I think. At any rate, I don't care about The Colts, it was a win for The Lions!!

yeah that piece of shit jerry jones pissed him off. i heard an interview with emmit smith saying that parcells had stated from the beginning that he wanted nothing to do with owens, and i wouldnt be shocked if starting tony homo was jones' decision as well.
wow that superbowl was awful. rex grossman is pathetic. i wouldnt let him play for my pee wee team. at least now that the colts have won bill polian might stop changing the rules every two years. thats right the head of the "fair competition commitee" is the GM of the colts, and he has been making it easier to pass every two years ever since new england shut their sorry asses down in the snow. this doesnt just piss me off as a pats fan, but as a football fan. this asshole has turned the game into flag football, so his no balls, cant play defense for shit team can finally win. sad.

you know somethings up when pats and dolfans are in agreement. that was the WORST superbowl i have seen in a very long time. its not like indy even went out and won it, the bears just gave it away. they shouldve run thomas jones more, and benched grossman after the 67th time he turned the ball over. oh god, did you see those two series in a row where he was just tripping over his own feet? the only guy i saw that impressed me was devin hester. im suprised they even kicked him the ball once. sigh...guess thats about it til april when we get the draft fired up.

the game was pretty shitty. i did like that first kick return though..funny thing is my friend adam called it before it even happened since the guy that returned the kick was from down here and i guess went to the same high school as him, just a couple years apart. but it just made me think of the ohio state/gators game where os ran it back on the opening kick but then got their asses handed to them. only difference is the colts didn't hand the bears asses to them.
turnovers left and right, and yea grossman looked like shit. i can't imagine he played like that all year..but i never really saw any bears games except maybe in the playoffs. on top of all that..the commercials were fairly shitty as well.

The mock Grand Theft Auto commercial was pretty funny.

I dunno if you're trying to edge out some linguistic differences or not, but I will say the game sucked because it was boring to watch. No suspence or tension or anything really unexpected in the last 3 quarters (as you can see I had a lot of confidence in Grossman here), it's not what you expect from a Super Bowl game.

It's been a long while since a Super Bowl was actually a good game. There's no real reason that it should be a good game, either; we'd just really like it to be.

thats crazy talk. pats vs eagles was an excellent game, as well as pats/panthers, and pats rams (all decided by a FG). even steelers vs seahawks had its moments. i agree with the end of your statement though, i knew any team from the AFC, no matter who was going to crush their, opponent. the championship games are almost always better.

You're confusing a close score with a good game.

No way, I really thought the Panthers had a chance the whole 4th quarter.

I'd agree with you on the most part, but you can have near-total whitewash games that turn out pretty cool. Like the Raiders vs Bucaneers a while back, it wasn't even close but it had near comedic value and at least some spirit. It's also that now you get 6 hours of NFL related crap films and hero-construction before the game which kind of builds it up to being the Battle of the Century (tm) but then ends up being as awe-inspiring as golf.
I guess Stanley Cup playoffs will always remain more exciting than NFL playoffs.

yes it was. carolina really showed alot of heart coming back at the end like that. i just mean that they were well executed, exciting games to watch. i think the best thing to come out of this years playoffs was by far my favorite new expression: "oh no! he Romo-ed it!"
def. "Romo", "Romo-ed";verb: to completely fuck something up, to choke.

it just rolls off the tongue. i feel for the guy though, he shouldnt even be holding for kicks in the first place. apparently hes got small hands (thats why you dont see him throw many picks, but he fumbles alot). ive got nothing against the boys, but it is a shame they cant dump jerry jones. he has single handedly driven a powerhouse championship franchise into the ground with his asinine draft picks (quincy carter with the 53rd overall!?), personnel moves (hes run off no less than two hall of fame coaches), and even (yikes) sideline demeanor (locker room speeches at halftime, harrassing players/coaches,etc.). if they could find a way to keep that fucker in the owners box, that team has loads of talent and depth, possibly the best player personnel in the league. im really interested to see who is hired to replace parcells.

I think Quincy Carter did just fine for being a second rounder. They gave up on him.

i dunno man, the only use he ever had was running the option on 3rd and short. i think its just common sense not to draft a QB from the sec, theyre notorious for being flops( with a few obvious exceptions). on a related note the cowboys made wade phillips their newest head coach today, good luck with that wade.
