music shops?
me and my friend where chatting today about record shops and where they get their merch from. do they get them straight through the record companies themselves or is there some kind of 3rd person that they go through? also what about metal only stores like hellsheadbangers or metalhaven or dark realm, how can they always carry rarrer and bootlegged items, where do they get those from. anyone know?

heres my educated guess for major retail stores- say FYE or coconuts or strawberries... they have deals with record labels to stock albums. like nuclear blast and relapse releases are ALWAYS available in those kinds of stores. nuclear blast probably pays fye to sell their cds, and then fye may pay them back for units sold or something
independent stores probably just order what they think will sell from the label
