RIP Joseph Barbera
Joseph Barbera died at the age of 95 of natural causes at his home in Studio City, Los Angeles on December 18, 2006, ending a successful seventy year career in animation. [1] His wife, Sheila, was at his side at the time according to Warner Bros. spokesman Gary Miereanu.[1]

I have no opinion on this man's cartoons, because I don't know what they are.
However, I have noticed that 2006 has been a rotten year for people dying. The cosmic dicks must be incorrectly aligned or some such.

If it wasn't for him there would be no fucking cartoons, pretty much. All of the shows on adult swim you can think him for, or at least the ones that are good.

Wikpedia's list of shows is pretty pitiful. It only scanned a couple decades. I found other places that go back lots further.
Here's a list of sites. Some of those cartoons I'd forgotten about, but now I remember them.

Pay more attention to credits. You might find something interesting there. Mel Blanc was another cartoon genius and I got my great accent from his Mexican dialects like Speedy Gonzalez. His and the HB cartoons are so different than the mainstream cartoons today.

Yeah, but in a lot of ways they're responsible for much of the drek we have today. There was a time that cartoons made kids smarter without letting them onto it by introducing them to a certain degree of abstraction they had to open up to be able to manage (not to mention more obvious, simple things like the endless embedded cultural references, or the occasional 'Duck Amuck'). Hanna-Barbera cartoons pretty effectively cemented that cartoons would just be complacent entertainment.
But they were pretty entertaining.

hanna barbera sucks, always sucked and forever will be known to have sucked.
remember the smurfs, the fucking......snorks, holy mother of shit, i hold them responsible for the wussification of this great nation.
i rooted for gargamel ever dumbfucking episodes, kill the smurfs, turn them into dog food, kill every other creature that breathes in hanna barberas various cartoons.
kill all, burn all, destroy all....salt the fucking earth.
WAR gargamel, WAR upon smurf land.
fell every tree, poison every river, fill the sky with the smoke of burning bodies, total war, forever.
global smurfland holocaust

The original Space Ghost was Hanna Barbera. So was The Herculoids. Good shit, man.

That cartoon was fucking awful, but in a funny way, not in a 80's version of Space Ghost kind of way. Being a fan of both cartoons and wrestling as a kid, I made sure I saw some reruns of that shitty show on cable. I didn't even like it when I was 7! It was probably because the real guys didn't even bother to lend their voices.
I'm pretty sure WWFE issued the old episodes of that on video tape as a curiosity type item during the Attitude era.
