Question Crate Shockwave GT3500 and a Cab, what do you think???

Hey, bout to test out my first post...
Just checked out an add with a Crate GT3500H Head and
a Peavey XXL Cabinet
he wanted 600 obo, has anyone ever jammed that head, and if so, would you recommend it?
oh, and can it handle metal?

it most certainly can handle metal.
you might want to get an EQ with it, it will sound much better.
$600 with cab is a decent deal. its $600 for the head alone new.

For 600 bucks that's pretty sweet. The cab is crappy so don't go diming the volume knob unreasonably or it may blow the speakers, but that's certainly a pretty good cheap halfstack setup.

The preamps in the GX and GT series were supposedly modeled after the Ampeg VH140C, which is the granddaddy of all high gain solid state amps. It'll most certainly kick ass for some brutal stuff.
