I'm pretty good this morning, then again I barely had a buzz.
It was probably just the alcohol making your stomach/liver upset?
DEAL WITH THE BEAUTIFUL PAIN.

Probably exhaustion aches of the type you get when you haven't slept enough. Since sleeping drunk isn't really sleeping at all (the body processes the liquor and so can't get rest), even if you did sleep this might happen.

Hangover and dehydration cause it mate.
To combat dehydration the body borrows water from it's own organs for example, the brain. The brain shrinks causing the bad headache. Alcohol also reacts with the stomach lining and causes increased prodution of gastric juices which cause abdominal pain and nausea, lack of glucose can cause fatigue.

You make it sound disgusting!
Just drink lots of water before you sleep..and have a huge glass of water next to you through the night/morning.

my muscles never ache from alcohol. however, my bones, mainly my knees, do. that would be the alcohol taking the calcium away from them, i believe. im not sure about the ping pong ball bit.

what i'm saying is..if you've never had a hangover, you haven't drank enough. its simple. i get drunk a lot..and most of the time i am fine. i can get up and be at the office at 9 in the morning and function. sometimes, when i get carried away, or haven't eaten anything all day and drank a bunch of liquor..then the morning tends to suck as i probably also forgot to drink some water, or have some next to my bed for the morning when i wake up from dehydration.
hangovers are a fact of life for all of us that consume lots of alcohol in one sitting...plain and simple.
i'll agree with you to some extent. if you drink two mikes hard lemonades or something and then wake up feeling like shit...then yea, the word pussy could apply.

well he never denied we were talking about hangovers in my post nor did he say "yea, i've had a hangover"...all he did was ignore my points and call me a noob haha.
aches and pains from drinking are basically one or a combination of three things...physical damage done while drunk ie. tripping and impaling yourself on a broken 2x4, ...a hangover...or alcohol poisoning. maybe i guess if you were allergic to alcohol or some ingredient..but other than that...what kind of drinking aches are there? other than aching to drink!!

I've had too many hangovers...sometimes hangovers that have lasted two days(well..not technically because we would be drinking all night into lunch time)
Why doesn't the human body have two livers?

yeah. that's true because a lot of Europeans think Americans can't drink.
If you're around in Amsterdam you'll notice:
- Americans usually can't drink. And they're upset by legal weed. Ohyeah and most of the time they're fucking rude. Not all of them are though, I know this by experience.
- English definetly can drink. And they like the red light district. And weed. And everything else, haha!
- Canadians usually can drink and don't bother with the weed.
- Germans usually eat more then they drink. And they look like that too.
- Belgians spend more time talking about their beer instead of drinking it.
- Italians spend to much time checking out the 'scenery' and let their beer die.
- Russians usually drink spirits and hang around with skanky looking girls.
- Scottish are fucking insane but good fun to drink and watch soccer with. (last part applies to the English as well but the Scottish are good losers too!)
Etc.

Have you ever heard of British Columbia?
I know a lot more potheads than heavy drinkers. I actually want to find more people to drink with, because a lot of my friends are skinny weaklings and can't drink all night/morning, or they drink a lot and get tired and want to go to sleep.

Some people get tired, some people find some new energy...
I've heard of BC. But Canadians in Amsterdam just look at the shops and barely go in, they're usually around in bars playing a game of pool or something. Ohyeah and they usually order Heineken because they think they know it.
But the Heineken sold abroad is the gay export version. They find out when they start drinking it in Amsterdam

Well if I were to visit I'd go right to the brewpubs/Brewery tours.
I'm not a big fan of Heineken, I'd probably get Duvel on tap before any of the bigger European brand names.
It's just like Canada and the US, forget the mass produced swill we both brew, delve deeper into the craft beer.

i had one simple point which i guess hasn't sunk in we are all one species and alcohol does the same thing to our bodies. period.
all those people in amsterdam represent about (i'm not even sure what ridiculous fraction of any of the populations they represent). spend some time in the states and you'll most likely see someone drink.
i went to italy and i drank every night, but i didn't drink as much as i do at home. the reason being is that i've only been to europe once...no telling when i'll be back, if ever. if i got shitfaced like i do here and slept in till 3 or 4..half my day is gone and if still feel like shit..then the rest of the day sucks. it wouldn't be worth it in 13 days in my opinion.
i wanted to go to amsterdam too for sure...and many other countries. but rather than spend half our (my brother and myself) trip on a train on the way to a destination..we just stayed in italy. it was nice being able to walk around in the streets drinking a big bottle of cheap beer that would be expensive here. people there were giving me looks ..maybe i just looked american? so i asked and was assured you can drink in the streets. you can't here in the states.
edit...and i guess there is some stereotype about american beer being weak and shitty. true, most of the major brands you have heard about are. just don't the hundreds (at least) of microbreweries that make great beer, and much of it is more than 5.5% or whatever budweiser and all that crap is.

Well, now your making up a new point.. I never told you alcohol falls different on your stomach when you're on the other side of the globe either.
You just love putting words in my mouth don't you?
I've been to the states and I've seen people drink, it's more the fact that the population here drinks insane ammounts of beer at all ages.
In America I didn't see that many pubs and kids are drinking more underground. Legal drinking age is 16 over here, so that helps too. But mostly Americans youngsters just walk around 'strunk' in the city because it's leeeegal!
The grown Americans usually take every opportunity to say 'I'll pay with my credit card, missy!'
From Italy to Amsterdam is about 2/3 days by car, I go to Italy every year, sometimes twice. Where exactly did you visit?
About the stereotype shitty beer, the percentage doesn't really matter too much, very good beer doesn't have to be 10%.
The 'usual' beers here IMO have more taste then the 'usual' beers over there but that's also a matter of taste of the customer I guess.
BassBehemoth mentioned Duvel, that's one of the biggest Belgian brewers
Belgium has great beers though, Jupiler, Stella and Palm are the most well known but they have far better beers that most people don't know about. (some are only sold two days a year!)
If anyone of you guys is around Amsterdam or Utrecht (central holland) just let me know and I'll show you a cafe with more then 100 types of rare beer ON TAP!!!!
It's a good place to go, especially if you 'wanna try stuff'
Ohyeah and the guy that went to Whales, do you have any memory about fucking sheep???

BassBehemoth mentioned Duvel, that's one of the biggest Belgian brewers

well its not a different point. its a different way of saying what i was always saying. that if ANYONE drinks enough, they will be hung over. no matter how tough they think they are...and no matter how much or often they drink. thats cause we're all human beings. so when you say someones a pussy for feeling like shit after drinking..maybe they are if it was a couple fuzzy navels or something..but i think if you've never been hungover, or otherwise felt like shit the next day, you haven't drank to your full potential.
as for the beer here...i agree with many europeans..and many people here. most of the macro breweries suck balls. but there are seemingly endless micro breweries..some of which produce the best beers i've had. particularly rogue, and north coast brewery. never had duvel but its on the list...of the others you mention, i've only had stella artois. i liked it, but i'm more into stouts and dark ales.
i don't go to the bars here really...i got arrested once for driving after drinking, so i pretty much drink at my house only. sometimes i'll go to some parties if we can walk there, or someone else drives. and its too expensive to drink at bars all the time. at roughly $4 a decent beer..that shit adds up quick.
you guys drink much liquor there? outside of beer i mainly drink scotch or bourbon straight with a couple ice cubes.
we flew into heathrow in england...had some guinness extra cold on tap..didn't notice any extra though ha. then we flew into the airport right outside of rome..forget how to spell it..fuimicano ..you probably recognize it hah. took a smaller flight to catania in sicily, but there was a "once in about every five year" fog covering the airport so we had to land in palermo and take a bus to catania. my unlce lives in motta san anastacia outside of catania. stayed there 4 days or so..then took a train to florence..stayed there for 2 days, then to venice for one night..then to rome for the rest of the trip..except one day we killed our last day on our train pass and hit up pompeii to check out the ruins.
pretty much was trying a new beer every night, and drank plenty of bottles of wine..though i'm not a big fan of wine..mostly just drank it for the alcohol.
edit...100 beers on tap sounds like the shit. there are places like that in the states, but they aren't very common...can't think of the nearest one in my area. i'm going to my parents house for thanksgiving over in tampa florida, and theres a restaurant i want to go to called tampa bay brewing co. or something...its a restaurant/bar/brewery that has a handful of beers on tap that they brew on site. they also have a few other microbreweries available for people not intersted in the house beer. looking forward to checking this place out!

But the Heineken sold abroad is the gay export version. They find out when they start drinking it in Amsterdam

Don't tell me that i pay too much for the shit for someone to tell me im getting some gay export formula Heineken. But if this is really true send me some in the mail!

And I never said I did not have hangovers either. I'm so tough I don't have too tell anyone shit. And yes I can drink more then most people because I am a winner at drinking contests
Some people get drunk after 10 beer and get an insane hangover, some people get drunk after 20 beer and 5 JD's and just need to sleep a bit longer to be up and running the next day. I belong to the second category but it really is different from day to day. Drink 15 beers after a long day at work and some sex, man, it fucks you up more quickly.
Drinking shitloads of water before going to bed helps too, having water next to your bed helps too. Ohyeah and I like milk in the morning but I'm weird like that.

I go to bars about 2,3 times a week, usually from work or study, whatever. It's not that expensive over here and it's usually more fun then drinking at home. The bars have chicks to mess around with and people that have deep pockets. (and they can't play poker, there's a hint)
Ofcourse we have the occasional party over here. But people usually bring extra booze/beer and it allways ends out drunk. The regular drinking at friends places doesn't happen too much, I usually meet friends and girlfriends at the pub. (that's because I study at utrecht university and everybody is from different places, but everybody does study in the same city. We don't have a campus or anything like that, everybody travels.)
Overall, people drink beer here but there's a lot of people that drink spirits as well, I prefer Scottish Single Malts like Glenfiddich, Glentalloch, Dalwhinnie, Oban, The Glenlivet, Balvenue, you name 'em.
If a Scot sees you throwing an ice cube into his whisky, he'll probably punch you in the face, since you're raping his country's whisky! (notice the lack of E in whisky!)
Personally I don't really like bourbon. I drink single malts every now and then and have quite a collection of single malts as well. Everything is 12 years and up, I like quality whisky, not the stuff like Jack Daniels that you can throw in your cola.
I like Peach Vodka and those sorts of things too but I usually only drink those in the summer.
We have different beers here for every time of year, spring beer, fall beer, winter beer, summer beer... it's pretty cool. I guess you guys all drink Corona's, Sol or Desperado's in the summer?
Those are expensive here, like most export beer is, same goes for the Heineken you guys get, you're beeing ripped off.

We're finally having a usefull conversation here, thank god. the first one I've seen since I've been back and it's about beer, can't be better.
Pr0az, it sucks that export beer is expensive but it's because you guys get taxed like crazy on it. Same goes for the Corona's that come this way. I like those in the summer, in mexico they're probably like 1 dollar a bottle. over here they're like 3,5 euro, which is like 5 dollar!

corona is alright. when i drink ANY beer like this i obsessively apply salt/lime. one guy said thats for girls... uh, no, just because i put lime, does not turn it into a fucking smirnoff ice. anyway, im crazy about salt and lime on that kind of beer, and many foods.
i suppose this is still on topic if you take the title as "aching to drink"

i don't think many people drink beers seasonally unless they are really into beer. before i grew any real appreciation for drinking, outside of getting drunk, i just drank the same crap all year long. i don't like corona..and i don't think its nearly as popular in mexico as it is in the us.
def, i've only had one of those scotches you mentioned..but i can't afford to buy stuff that nice all the time. something like that i'd rather keep around and just have some here and there. usually i drink mid lower end stuff like j & b, dewars, jim beam, jack daniels...other random drinks here and there if i feel like trying something else.

Damn how can you drink Corona's and you have such lovely beer there already? Corona's are nasty alone, i heard they can be quit good with lemon and salt though.
Also i know about that taxes and stuff but i can still bitch and complain about it. Fucking Tariffs!

haha i have bad taste because i said i prefer grolsch or st pauli girl to heineken here, but def likes corona!?
outside of all the rednecks and their favorite bud or bud light or miller...i'd say the number one most overrated beer in this country is corona. lime, salt or otherwise.. i'd take one over those three beers i mentioned..but not by much of a margin.
speaking of shitty beers...i've got some 16 oz cans of natty ice in the fridge waiting for me to get home and drink them. those and the last of the brutal bitter!

Oh yes, Grolsch is what they flush the toilet with over here
Corona's isn't bad for the summer IMO, but most of the time I drink Erdinger Weissbier in the summer, it's cheaper and heavier.

Uh. yeah I do drink seasonal beer. which is pretty cool, they only sell it in the season itself!
about the scotches, they're high-end but they're not meant for heavy boozing, they need to be enjoyed. Like, that's not the stuff to throw in cola, that's the stuff to relax with. I've got quite a collection of single malts but my brother is a real collector so I only buy the ones I tried and liked.
(higher-end whisky runs from 50 euro to 4000 euro a bottle!!)

ohh whoops..i meant to say "i don't think people here drink seasonal beers" i don't know about other countries. some people here do, but its pretty rare.
as for the scotch..yea i appreciate a fine glass, but most (95%) of the time..i'm drinking something i enjoy at least moderately with the main intention of getting drunk. after having a number of glass of that stuff...i tend to lose track and get a little carried away. so i rarely ever buy anything thats more than $30 for a 1.75 liter.
my drinking ache if i did buy something expensive, would be my wallet when i realize i drank $50 worth of liquor in one night!

Fuck that i'd rather sit at home an drink 20x cheaper. I'd rather drink and sit around a tv with friends, play my wii, or program for school or somethin.

for me, i drink too much to drink at bars..not to mention i have a dui. so driving places to drink is pretty much not something i do. if someone else is driving, cool..but i don't. but as tmfreak said, its expensive as hell at a bar compared to at home. example...a pint of guinness is about 4 bucks on average at a bar..then figure a dollar tip..so 4-5 bucks a pint vs. about 12-13 bucks for a 12 pack of bottles.
the cheapest beers are usually 2 bucks or so..and thats icehouse, bud, high life, etc. a 6 pack of high life at the store is 4 bucks.
so if i want to drink, i just drink at home or friends houses. sometimes people come over and there are parties, other times is just me and roommates, and sometimes just me.
another thing is, the bars are usually sausage fests, and the music is usually not good. at home i can play anything as loud as i want, or i can play guitar.
drinking at home > drinking at a bar
the only thing the bar has that my house doesn't, are beers on tap. though we do have a kegerator at the house..just have been lazy about getting kegs..

They save so much money buying kegs too. Not to mention its fucking keg beer.... i mean come on.. tap shit yo.

Nuh uh. not if you know the right places to go
About kegs, I have a beertender, the home cool-tap system. it's far more expensive then just buying crates and throwing the bottles in the fridge.
But it's great for watching soccer matches with friends, beer on tap just owns.
Over here you got to a bar to hang out with friends, check out chicks, play poker, whatever. Then you go to a club and get shitfaced, then laid!
Sure there's usually loud and crappy music but who gives a damn, as long as you're having fun.
I wouldn't want to go to a club with just metal and only ugly fatass goth bitches. But hey, I'm preppy like that. I like hockeygirls.

I agree with everything, except I don't have a DUI or kegertaror. lol
I like going to pubs sometimes..mainly the one's that serve craft brew in bottles and on tap. There are a few brewpubs in Halifax and they all have their own specialty craft beer you can't buy anywhere else but on tap.(Which is pretty bullshit)
Once I get some uh...Christmas money I'm boozing it up with a few friends of mine to the XTREM3. I wanna go on some local craft brewery tours as well..$15 for 2 hours of unlimited free drinking as well as knowledge! Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.
I was reading a newer edition of that famous book that Mr. Beer himself, Michael Jackson put out during off block today in the school library. Anyone interested in beer needs to check it out. Lots of pictures! It was really interesting, I learned a little.. except I really had a temptation to drink. The closest bar to my school is a strip joint. lol. I'll have to go their between classes sometime. It's a real dump yet I've never eaten cheeseburgers while watching ex-hookers take off their panties. I've been there a few times before and have choked on my drinks at the sight of some of them.

well maybe there, but in this city, there are only a couple cool bars to go to..and they are not on the cheaper end of the scale. sometimes we go to this place called the lion & eagle pub...just usually have a few pints and maybe something to eat. haven't been in a while though.
the rest of the bars here are either for rich older people, really shitty hole in the wall type places (not so bad sometimes), or crowded/annoying college bars. well they are only crowded one or two days a week...other than that they are dead, which i prefer.
haha thats pretty funny about the metal club fat goth bitch thing...all the shows here usually have some hot or decent looking girls that are always with their boyfriend/husband/etc. or like you said big girls in all black.
heres a crappy pic of our kegerator...i can take better pics later, and an inside shot. the keg and tank of gas fit inside the main section of the fridge and gets pumped out through the side there. the freezer still works too, so we have some bottles of liquor cooling off in there too.

one of the main reasons we stopped is that i was drinking faster than everyone else, so they got tired of "splitting" the keg.

aww you should try a dui! they are great! i wish i knew of some bars here with good microbrews on tap..or even bottle. its pretty much all the big names on tap at all the bars here. there might be one place in this city that brews their own beer, but i've never been there so far.
makes me think of the place i go to for most of the shows i see...they have all these standard domestic beers bud, miller, etc for 4 bucks a bottle...or for one dollar more, you can get imports or good beers like sierra nevada. expensive...but for one dollar extra..fuck it!

hah one of these days i will make it to amsterdam..hopefully the next time i go to europe..which is hopefully sooner than later. i'd definetly get some shrooms there..but other than that i'd just be smoking and drinking. my roommate went to germany for a few months to study architecture and made his way over to amsterdam for a bit while he was there. sounds like a pretty nice place.

MAYBE where YOU live in the anti-kegistan of Europe haha. I can get a half keg of any old ergular beer for about 50 bucks. And that much alcohol in bottles... fuck.. Doesn't even remotely fucking compare.
Oh and Bassb haha i STILL haven't paid for any beer from them. I am like fuck dude i'll seriously give you like a 20 for the keg, "no no no, we can't accept that" wtf? haha i drink like 10 cups worth at least EVERYTIME i go to their house.

I think that is the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life. I'd kill to have that.
Kegs are so godamn expensive, I've only bought the mini kegs, the bigger one's have too much of a deposit on them to bother with.
annd...not enough of my friends drink good beer anyways to even bother with a big one.
Hmm, although I should ask my dad for a keg for xmas. That would be love right there.
Halifax has 2 or 3 brewpubs, 4 breweries and the most pubs/bars per capita than anywhere in Canada. It's quite the beer city, for only 350,000 ppl.

That's exactly what it is. Hell, I don't know how many of you have ever had a calf muscle tighten up for no reason, to the point of agony, but this is also caused by dehydration... and as we all know, alcohol dries a motherfucker out like no other.
