Your Favorite METALLICA Album
Metallica. Yes I said... Your Favorite/Most Influencial Metallica album. Look before this gets closed, let me justify my reasons for asking this question.
1. I searched and nothing existed.
2. Metallica was a very influencial to the many different genres of metal. As for me and many others, Metallica really pulled me into metal and really lit the spark in wanting to play metal in all aspects (guitar, drum, the sound).
I ask this to analyze the road you took. I have a pretty good idea of what everyone likes to an extent. I'm curious to find out, if you were influenced by Metallica in any way, what album you personally like best or has been most influencial to you if you play any instrument. Heh... seriously, I ask it to all metalheads I know. Seems like people into who like certain genres of metal more liked a certain Metallica album more, there is a distinct relation. I know some of you hate metallica or just didn't like them musicially, and that's cool... I left you that option.
Also, please post what your reply was so I (and others) can make the comparisons.
My vote is Master Of Puppets. That album was fast and heavy and they really took a melodic approach to alot of the music. Seems like that album is more melodic, to me, than other albums and that's reflected in my likings of metal. Melodic death metal is my favorite genre of metal.

Justice does it for me, all due to the riffing. Songs like blackened and dyers eve. The guitar tone on that album is still one of my personnal favorites today, though it would be nice if theyd make a remastered version of this album, sounds kinda thin, bassless. Nowadays I like tech death metal. Ive worshipped Metalllica day and night for many years, but now Id like to watch them die, extremely horrible death's!

I was gonna votethe last one, but I do believe the S&M album was pretty good. But as far as influence goes, Metallica does nothing for me.

And Justice For All, that one just has the best songs on it. I´m the most into regular death metal and technical death metal now and I also love brutal death metal, but to a somewhat lesser extent.

'St, Anger' was so horrible people joke about leaving their blinkers on in their car and thinking they had the album on.

And Justice for all is teh best, second metal album I ever bought. (First was RTL). It's technicality probably influenced some death metal.

I love these kind of threads. As far as my favorite album goes, I always swing back between Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. If I had to choose one though, I think Id give the edge to Ride, although Master was probably better and more influential on the whole
My favorites, ranked, are:
1) Ride the Lightning
2) Master of Puppets
3) Kill Em All
4) ...And Justice for All
AJFA was ok, but IMO its the album they started going downhill

Change the title. If you keep it gay like this, the thread will be closed. In general, nobody can be surprising or interesting in a thread like this. But enjoy.

The Black Album was probably the first metal I heard other than Sabbath, Priest, Deep Purple and Saxon that my Dad used to play. It's not my favourite album, but it got me into other stuff. My favourite is Kill 'em All

Ride The Lightning. I don't think ill ever hate this album. Ever. Even when i'm 60 ill still remember it.
It sucks so bad Metallica are gay now. I think they should make one last amazing album (old style) and quit.

The next time you attempt to sucker people into a thread with a non-descriptive title, I'm going to lock it straight away. It's obviously against the rules and I find it unbelievably irritating.
...And Justice for All is my favorite. The Black Album was, by FAR, the most influential among musicians playing today.

Only way that'll happen is if they re-issue one of their older albums.

They're trying very hard to make something awesome and in their old style, but you can't create something that breathes if your soul's been traded for hair gel.

James' best vocal performance is on Justice, IMO. It is the most aggressive, and he finally sounds like an adult, not a teenager.

Influence and quality do not go hand in hand. Rappers have been very "influential" in the clothing styles of many males (i.e. oversized pants and shirts). Don't even try to tell me that you don't look like an idiot wearing pants down to your knees, I don't think it looks good. Yet, it is a result of the "influence" of the rappers, not the quality of them.
Same with Metallica, while the latter albums may be very "influential" because of how famous and accessible they were, that does not make them quality pieces of music.
If you are 16 or younger, I am not disgusted with you. if you are older.....

Too close for me between ...And Justice For All and the Black Album. I choose And Justice For All though. Then
2) Black Album
3) Ride The Lightning
4) Master Of Puppets
5) Kill Em' All
6) Load
7) Reload
8) Garage Inc.
9) St. Anger

After careful consideration and a lot of re-listening, my conclusion:
1. Ride the Lightning
2. And Justice For All
3. Master of Puppets
4. Kill 'em All
AJFA used to be my favourite, mainly because it had a strong emotional connection to me - namely that it was the first metal record that I ever bought - and that it had some fantastic soloing from Hammet. However, RTL feels more cohesive to me these days and more of my favourite Metallica songs are present on this album than on any other.
I don't, generally, care for the other albums although Load is probably the best out of them.

2. AJFA
3. Lightning
4. Puppets.

What's wrong with talking about Metallica? As long as people aren't running around giving praise to the Black Album or Load or any of those pieces of shit, there isn't a problem. Old Metallica kicks ass!
And Ride The Lighting is hands down their best work. I could never really get into AJFL or Master Of Puppets, though Kill 'Em All was great too.

I agree with Jamf though, there's really nothing new to discuss about their music. We all still like the same albums and still hate them for going commercial, and all we do is make a thread about them every 6 months at every goddamn metal forum to babble the same shit again.

Try to get it as a subtitle for this forum . I totally agree. I do not even discuss Metallica anywhere. I just say I do not like it and change the subject.

Point missed, that's just the problem. Because every thread started about Metallica ends up the usual verbal brawl with people blasting them as sell outs, moaning about the newer albums(see your quote above) or slagging off Kirk, or dragging up the old Megadeth clash yawn, yawn bla bla. Before you know it it's e-handbags at dawn between a couple of fan boy noobs, one ends up getting suspended and spends his existance on the green screen bleating how the MODS hate him..bla bla(he will then go on to win a 'Tabbie' for best flaming). Read it 1000 times before, it's dull and boring and no new topic is ever raised or discussed!

And it will happen again, and again, and again, and again.
(I endorse the phrase 'e-handbags at dawn' now and forever more.)

Master of Puppets but Ride the Lightning is a close second imo.
