The history of heavy metal
Hi everyone, I didn't know where to post this, so don't get pissed off if it's the wrong place.
I read this great article about where heavy metal came from and who were the pioneers; read it on the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal . I hope that you'll enjoy reading this as much as I did.

So it was Deep Purple and not the god of thunder himself crashing down his mighty axe that spawned this beast we call metal
I half expected it to say somehwhere that "they all love their mums really"

This is true. Some guy once replaced a picture of roast beef for the picture on the article for "vagina".

Wikipedia articles are only worthless if they aren't cited. And you can find alot more realiable, less biased material on stuff than you can searching on google.

Maybe the linked-to article doesn't tell most people anything they didn't already know, and probably Wikipedia isn't anybody's idea of a truly reliable source...but the article does raise an interesting question which could make the thread useful.
Note right in the first paragraph the four bands listed as examples of original or traditional heavy metal: Zep, Purp, BOC, Sabbath. And indeed, in the 70's and 80's, all of those bands were considered to be some of the early metal bands. Yet three of those four bands have no representation at all in the tab section of this site. There are tons of tabs online for all those bands, but none here. That's always made me wonder if the site considers early metal to not really be metal.
So my question is: how do you know -- definitively -- what is considered to be metal by MetalTabs?
This is in regard to knowing what bands' tabs will be accepted for archiving on the site, that is.
Because I would have thought I'd see bands like Led Zep, and Deep Purple, and the like on a metal site, as well as the solo and band offshoots of those bands. And I figure there must be a reason why they're not there.

I read the whole article. It's not bad, actually. There wasn't much in it I didn't already know, but it's a great article for those not aware of the glorious history of heavy metal music. It's worth a quick read.

Well despite the fact that everyone can write everything in wikipedia, I believe that most of the things that were written in the article are true; check the 'Sources' and 'References' links.
