Favourite Judas Priest album.
What is everybody's favourite Judas Priest album. I'm not sure if this poll will work as well as I'd like it to because I don't think many people will have every album they have released. Instead, vote for the best album you have heard.
I haven't included "Unleashed in the East" because it's a live album and it contains IMO almost all of their best songs which would get my vote and maybe a few other votes. Fuck, that album is pretty much a "Greatest Hits" - live! Awesome shit.

I picked painkiller, for that monster of an opening track.

I went for "Sad Wings of Destiny" slightly over "Stained Class". Fuckin hard choice.
I know not all of their albums are there, but i'm quite sure the votes won't be any of the ones missing.

I think it would be a good idea if everyone posted all the albums they have as well.
I have everything in the poll apart from Angel of Retribution. Also have Rocka Rolla, Unleashed in the East, Point of Entry and Turbo.

Well apart from maybe the 2 piano ones, but they're still enjoyable now and then.

What a choice an absolute class album just for Tyrant alone!!!
Sad Wings gets my vote
Tough choice as I also like Screaming... , British Steel, Stained Class, Sin after Sin, etc...... But oh shock horror, where was Turbo? I was so gonna vote for that!
@Hidrio: Unleashed in the East wasn't technically a live album as such as all the guitar and vocals were re-recorded in the studio

That would explain the near perfect production.
Apart from the debut, their 70's work is far supreme to everything after

I went with Stained Glass. It has such a proto-thrash feel in some parts.

You should give "painkiller" a try, unbelievable album. They never sounded so hard, fast, good as on that album. Their peak, no question about it.
I saw Priest 3 times, they re old but they keep going. Good band to finish a festival.

Turbo is not bad, it's just like megadeth's risk, it's not what you expect from Priest.

there was a pretty cool hour long special on vh1 classics last night about the making of " british steel"
i would recommend watching it if you're a priest fan, it had the members and the producer talking about how they made the sounds on the album, the lyrics, stuff like that.
as for me, i don't even have any whole priest albums, i just know the stuff on their best ofs

Painkiller ain't bad but it's not Priest at their best(I mean Leather Rebel c'mon ) I'd have to take Sad Wings or Stained Class before Painkiller.
And Turbo is a terrible album

To me Painkiller sounds more "fresh" (ninties production). While their older stuff sounds sometimes a bit dated, which is logic because it were the 70's. The whole painkiller album to me is just one big explosion and has a lot of energy & speed. Halford screams are really something too.
I must admit, that i didnt hear all their albums, but Painkiller is still the best I heard from them though... Its a shame that after that album Halford quitted the band, but thats another story...

Agreed.
I think I could enjoy Painkiller more if it had the production of say... British Steel. I don't think the production on Painkiller suits them

I didn't put it in the poll at the time, but recently I've quite enjoyed Point of Entry.

Word on the streets is that everyone who didn't vote for Stained Glass has a raging case of herpes and athlete's foot.

It's my second favourite. That album would have benefited immensely from a different producer. It sounds too gentle.

Stained Class will always be #1 for me hands down, best drummer they ever had (Les Binks). Hell anything from Sad Wings up to Stained Class is untouchable. Didn't like Killing Machine, love British Steel, and the rest of the albums I only like particular songs from. I really think "Ram It Down" is very overlooked.
Turbo? What the fuck is Turbo?
Oh yeah, the album that wins my eternal award for the worst example of usage of guitar synthesizers in musical history (when the drums enter on "Locked In". Not enough crackers & chips for that cheese.)

Painkiller. Alot of Judas Priest sucks and shamefully gets labelled metal, but Painkiller is awesome. I also think Jugulator was really underrated. Not their best, but very good.

I'm with you, brother. It doesn't rank with Stained Glass and Sad Wings of Destiny on my list, but Hell Bent for Leather is one of my all time favorite songs and the rest of the album isn't bad, either.
By the bye, I think Rocka Rolla is overlooked. Great album.
