Hey, i just joined a shock rock band, im im wanting my face a powdery white. Now if i get a powder will it look really shitty if i get sweaty? If anyone has seen the Satryicon video King, thats kind of what im going for. Dark eyes, pale face, and contacts. Thanks!

I've always wondered about that, too. I've never seen anyone's face paint "melt" off. There must be some sort of chemical or ingredient in the face paint, I guess.

And your question about if it would look shitty?....... with all due respect, that question is like what Bill Engvall said about how his dog ate turds, and the vet told him to sprinkle this stuff on it's food so it's "turds would taste bad".... think about it.

I assume by bands that use facepinat, you mean black metal. If they are in a music video, then you an edit andd stuff. But to be honest... I have never really seen too many videos of corpsepaint wearing bands playing live. Immortal, Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir are the only ones I can think of. And the one I saw of Dimmu Borgir, the bass player's was comign off pretty bad.Look in the tours forum, when is the last time Darkthrone toured?

I guess because it's something that you don't see in your everyday life. It's why it's so "shocking." If everyone wore corpsepaint in their daily life, we (society) would eventually become immune to its suprise. No longer will my Dad freak out everytime he sees some image of Marilyn Manson (Marilyn Manson's and SLipknot's whole makeup mask gimmick is what he would consider "Brootal" ; he's still stuck on 50's and 60's rock n roll ). But until that day comes, shock rock and black metal bands will feed off the fear and shock of the more ignorant side of their fan base.

At least that's the way I see it.

i dont know. most of you take stage makeup way too seriously... enough to talk shit and create very strong negative opinions on whole genres of music due to image, even though you ALL turn around and say image is nothing.

I might wear some sort of paint on my face when I start playing at gigs, if I ever do. (I'm gonna be a Sith Lord). But I'm more worried about actually getting my band together and playing even in the garage. Face paint is the least of my worries.

Next person to post in this thread better have consulted a stage make-up artist or be one. In either case, it shouldn't be too hard to find one. I can find one if nobody else can.

Google for a gothic makeup site. Buy white foundation. Apply evenly, blend at the chin into the neck.

Saying that, I don't wear makeup ever. I know for sure that it's not a powder but foundation in most cases though.

A friend of mine plays in a 70's disco tribute band. He decided to use industrial silicon to stick his fake facial hair and Burt Reynolds chest wig on! Only thing was after he removed them he was left with a very sore rash in the shape of Jason King's lip warmer
