Best old school death metal bands
I think that the best old school DM band is cannibal corpse ... but only the albums where Chris Barnes is the lead singer . i dont like the new singer .
i have seen both of them but chris barnes is my favourite

Of course Possessed are Death Metal they even made up the name! I hate when people say they're not death metal. They are death metal just evolved (or devolved-depends on POV) into what it is today.
Old school Death Metal is probably my favourite death metal to listen to.

Agreed. Sure, they may have invented the term death metal, but they sound much more thrashy to me. If they didn`t have that one song called death metal , I somehow dubt they would be labeled anything but a thrash band.

Possessed started it all, not just because of that song, but because bands like Death and such took after everything they did. Super harsh vocals, skank beats, death/macabre/Satan/horror-themed lyrics. Definately death metal.
Only the 1st possessed was DM, Eyes of Horror was just Slayer-esque thrash.
Nihilist/Entombed haven't been mentioned yet I think. 
Dismember aren't that oldschool, neither are Suffo.
Repulsion need to be mentioned even if they're a grind band(they're older than ND), they were one of the first recognized bands that used blastbeats prominently, which led to so many bands like CC, Terrorizer, Morbid Angel, and such using them a lot too.
Most of my fav. bands have been mentioned already, great going lads.
