What to charge for someone to use my music in a haunted house.
I jsut got a guy saying he wants to use two of my songs at the Texas state fairs haunted house. Does anyone have any idea how much i should charge him? Thanks!

not sure, not too much cause its a one time thing. but now im really interested in what your music is. keyboard? instrumental? brootal? i can see why someone would want brootal in a blood and guts "haunted house", but if its a spooky deal, id say creepy keyboard/instrumental would be perfect. |

There are different ways to charge people. There are organisations with which you can register, and receive a per-play reimbursement from them. Look up songwriting organisations and guilds and request help from them.

from the way his second post is worded, it indeed does sound like he sold everything to do with those two songs. i seriously doubt someone would pay 1000 dollars to play 2 pretty short songs for one night. i could be wrong, but Shreddist, i dont think im the only one here that wants to hear the details of this deal.

I mean dont' get me wrong.. sure it would suck not to have control over your own music.. .But is it seriously that big of a deal? I mean what is the worst that could happen.. oh wait nothing. A state fair now has a song they can use? I mean seriously. Congrants on the sale, i'd like to sell some of my music for 1000 bucks. I have a couple midis and a bunch of recordings.. fuck i'm sitting on like a million dollars here.

Okay, well thats the agreed deal, no contracts have been signed yet hes sending me his and im going to have a lawer look over it. The way it will work is the Texas State Fair is going to have limited use of my song from the day the house opens until the day closes, after the day the house closes they will no longer be able to use my song.

i just got an email about someone using my former bands songs for an art exibit here in town. they also asked the singer of another one of my former bands for thier permission.
i gave the ok. for free.
so basically the last 2 bands i had, thier music is gonna featured at this thing for free, which means i gotta check it out.
i just hope they let me in..............for free.
