Serious input please
I have to choose a topic for my Lareate Program paper by September 15 and I have no idea what I want to write about. Can some people throw around some controversial topics that are interesting and relevant, and not too cliché? (So no "global warming")
I'm thinking maybe how the media distorts the news or legalization of marijuana.

Vikings and Shamans are neither interesting nor controversial. Serial Killers?
It has to be like a topic that can be argued from both sides and has some relevance to the contemporaneity of society. |

How about the patriot act? Whether it really provides security or just inhibits freedom/promotes racisim even further? Abortion is a good one but a fetus can't really aruge. Same thing with Ste Cell research. Although I got away with writing that last one.

i wrote an essay a couple years ago on the subject on how internet will eventually destroy the concept of socializing as we know it, how it helps to create split personalities for real-life and online situations, how internet chat software will eventually fully replace cell-phones in the future, among other topics.
there's also my 10th grade essay, which i'm extremely proud of, called "War must go on". it touches on why war is necessary, since millions of jobs depend on it, technological advances created by the military can become useful in civilian lifes, etc.
