You can smoke in all bars here, but only is designated smoking rooms. You have to be 5m(I think it is) from most public buildings while smoking.

I don't smoke. Never will either. I have bad sinus issues. Just yesterday, the weather changed from hot to cool overnight, and I was miserable the whole day; nose was congested and still was runny, which is odd. Sneezing every few minutes. All this from a simple weather change. I hate to think what smoking would do to me. Half the reason I won't smoke weed, either. The other half being I don't wanna end up in jail; being as incompetant as I am, me being high wouldn't be a good idea

But anyways, back to the topic. I used to reticule (sp?) and nag on people who did smoke. It's a bad habit to get into and the only reason that I see for someone taking it up is vanity; smoking doesn't get you high, and it only gives you a relaxing feeling after you've developed a tolerance to it so bad that you smoke a pack a day, so it has to do with how a person wants to look. I could be wrong, and I probably am, but that just seems to be the only reason to start smoking. Plus it is such a waste of money. The amount of money my sisters spend on ciggarettes combined could get me probably 10 replica Paul Mazurkiewicz signature kits (although that's probably not what they would buy.... and if they did, they wouldn't give me one. Then again, I don't know if such kits exist. If they did, I would get it)

I stopped doing it because, not only was it not getting me anywhere, but I felt very hypocritical because I hate when people nag on me about certain things. Plus, after seeing those Truth kids on tv so many times doing all these demonstrations and shit, I figured out how I was on the verge of becoming an activist, which is not what the world needs.

As far as anti-smoking laws go; no. I think they are bullshit because the government is pretty much controlling these businesses and making a decision for them when it's not even their business. An owner of a bar should have the right to run his own bar his own way. If he doesn't want smoking, that's his choice. I can understand why such laws are being passed, but they are just really invasive, I think.

- The city of Calabasas, about 45 miles north of L.A., had BANNED PUBLIC SMOKING. That's right, you can't even smoke a cigarette OUT ON THE STREET there, it's illegal.

- The city of Santa Monica has banned public smoking on ALL BEACHES. You cant' even smoke on the fucking beach anymore here in L.A.

- L.A. Pierce College, which I used to go to in 2001, gave smokers a designated smoking area up 10 - not kidding - 10 flights of stairs that lead right up to the music department. The smoking area was no more than 8 square feet big, which was fucking pointless, because everyone coming up those stairs would be breathing in the 'harmful fumes' of the smokers anyway. Fucking stupid.

- It is illegal to pull up to a drive-thru window at McDonalds with a cigarette lit, in fact, you could get sued by the manager.

No, it's got nothing to do with a cold virus. It's the humidity and the change in barometric pressure. The amount of ozone over the region. From here to Cleveland the ozone is very thin and people with allergies or asthma have really bad problems then. My doc said he's unsure why it's so high, but it just is here. There was about 3 or 4 days recently that have been like no other all summer. My chest felt heavy and my nose wuld not quit running down the back of my throat. That means something was in the air either inside or out. My flonase and asthma meds work wonders, but for some reason they weren't touching that. When the sinus pressure builds up you don't get enough oxygen and you get listless, too. I really felt like I did when I used to get buzzed. And I did not like it. Thank good ness that's passed.

For many years I smoked weed and it didn't bother me, but if I walked into a room with a couple people smoking my eyes would end up watering, it would get hard to breathe, and sometimes my skin would even start to itch. I prefer not having to fight to breathe normally. And it really has been a deterent to going into bars for me. Plus I can't stand drunks usually.

I was a pretty responsible partier when i did smoke though. I'd be home or landed for the duration and I wouldn't drive. After having pneumonia and trying to smoke again I oughed my brains out and said screw that shit. Never again. If the doc ever wanted me to for chemo or something like that there's other alternatives to smoking it, but I doubt I'll ever smoke again. Just a pleasant memory.

My theory is that Phillip Morris does understand the dangers of smoking and is trying to reduce smoking habits, but it's such a big industry that it cant just shut down. It would have to develop other money making things which they do now. It's going to take a long time, but it wouldn't surprise me that it's a goal for way down the road.

i personally think that this law is good for 2 things : it will bring the number of smokers down and second reduce the number of illness related to smoking. Personally i don't think that smokers should have free medical cares when their illness related to lungs problems, emphysem (sp?), etc..caused by tabacco. we should not pay collectively for those people who knows that they are harming themselves.

I think the Dominican has one of the best cigarette laws...you can smoke where ever the fuck you want. This includes malls, inside stores at the mall, in businesses, EVERYWHERE.

Regardless of the location, if you look at some of the steps the US, and I say US because those are the ones I've heard most about not to leave any other country out, when I was growing up in the 60's Lake Erie had mercury galore in it. I'd go to the beach and after the tide was in the beach stunk from all the dead fish corpses there. You had to be careful where you walked and sometimes you just didn't go down there it was so bad. The factories were throwing chemicals in the air and we had a dead creek that Greenpeace came and chained themself to it was so bad. Before my time the tannery on the river dumped so much tannin and blood in the river it ran red from their to the Lake. Probably a distance of a couple miles at least. There's still areas of town with high MS rates and cancer rates. NE Ohio is very high for cancer anyways. Thank God for the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals! Some of the best in the world. If things hadn't changed from the time I was a kid until now I shudder to think what this town would be like. Sometimes you have to adjust to make things better.

As for smoking in enclosed areas. Have you ever cleaned the curtains, walls, or windows in a person's house that smoked? My old b/f had a van with white fur on the ceiling back in the late 70's. He smoked and the white fur was beige from his cigarettes. I can't imagine what was being inhaled.

We just had a brand new high school built. Our industry here isn't as good as it was ages ago, but maybe since they have spent some money to upgrade the school and have plans for further upgrades educationwise it might bring others to the area. We're basically and old money town and houses just a few houses from me are now HUD or Section 8 housing. It's really made me stop and think.

It's horrid that there's water leaking in the schools up there and that something's not done to help that. That's not a good incentive to bring new families and future students into. Our state lottery money over the years has supposed to help with schools. Most will say they fail to see where.

Even as a non-smoker when they said at the hotel people had to go to their cars to smoke on their breaks I suggested they put an exhaust fan in the back break room so people wouldn't have to go out in the cold and they'd be accessible if we had a rush in the kitchen. A couple years after I quit there guess what they did! MY IDEA!!!! I don't know who got credit for it. It's a smoke free facility except for guest rooms now, but back then it was a different hotel chain, too.

Either he lives way the fuck in Northern Quebec, a very poor part of Quebec or maybe inner-city Montreal. Here in West Virginia you can't smoke in restaurants anymore but you can smoke in bars sometimes. It's illegal to smoke and buy when you under 18 but a cop is never going to accost and/or card someone smokeing if they look underage.

Nah, you used to see guys with cigarettes hanging out of their mouth while their putting in fuel lines and shit like that. It was just stupid and im glad its finally over. I cant stand the smell of 20 employees in the front end coming into the shop to smoke in the winter time either. Its just fucking rude. Considering that on coffee breaks im almost always eating. Food+Smoke=Not a good combo.

Oh and as for the cigarette in the gas tank thing, ive been told that the cigarette will go out before it even lights because the gas is a liquid. But, on the other hand, if you held a cigarette CLOSE enough to the gas for a short time it would ignite it.

Someone should try this, i really wonder if its true.
