Ghosts vs. Aliens
The title says it all, which one do you think has a greater chance of existing? I always used to laugh at people who thought ghosts were real but i have heard an interesting proposition from somewhere before...maybe wikipedia, haha. Anyway, if Einstein's theory about energy ( the name of it eludes me) is true (that energy and mass are never really lost, just transferred into different froms), then what happens to all of the energy ( mostly electrical) in a person that makes all of their hundreds of bodily functions function and the energy that makes up their thoughts. According to Einstein' theory about energy, that energy could not just dissapear into nothing but it would have to be transferred into something..... which could possibly explain ghosts......if they are real. And aliens....dont even get me started on the possiblites of life somewhere else besides earth. Anyhoo, I would just like to see what most people think about these "paranormal" occurences and how much validity you give them. And yes, I know this is a gay thread idea but I am bored and this is the chit chat section, so have at it!

HMMM
ive never heard this einstein theory but i will check it out. i do believe ghosts would easier to concvince someone that they are in fact real. aliens are always claimed to be real by the crazy and lunatics or maybe they are just seen as crazy because of their claims. i dont know, but i do believe in both slightly from convincing and slightly from what i believe to be fact. some deny these facts but that is their choice.

That's the first law of thermodynamics, which was written before Einstein was born.

I can't reply to this without dying a little inside. It's wrong about four times.

None. We can't prove paranormal phenomena don't exist. However, we can prove:
1) People who believe in them are often stupid in any number of modalities
2) They are easy to learn to fake, you can 'learn' to be a believable psychic or medium
3) A number of people who promote paranormal phenomena have turned out to be liars, con artists and fuckwits

But that didn't stop you from making it?

Damn, sorry about all the mistakes FBS. I still think it is a funny thread idea. I may have been ignorant and premature in my description of the number of body functions and the kind of energy that governs them, no need to verbally vomit all over me. Just wanted to see what other people thought about it.

Aliens would come out and be like "check out our laser beam and stuff it's totally cool" and then the ghosts would be all "meh, watch me be all creepy and mopey and stupid and stuff" and then the Spam would shoot out from the sky and be like "die bitches die!" and then it would kill them both and then it would be like "what you think of zat little ass kicking right zair huh bitches? Do you like it when Iya punch a-your taint?"

Well, I can only infer, but i'd say the possibility of Aliens existing is much higher.
Ghosts could exist, but I infer life to be quite black and white, you live and you die, I don't think there's much chance of some sort of spiritual afterlife existing in or outside this universe.
Aliens probably exist and may have visited us. What would be really cool, is finding out their (if present) way of life. I would be really fascinated in seeing a lifeform that survives on completely different methods, although it's highly likely that if aliens exist, they'd be Hydrogen, Oxygen and Carbon based like us, since these are big elements in the universe. I really am fascinated.
What is very impressive though, are crop circles.
The perfection is mind boggling, it doesnt give much chance of humans actually running around a crop field cutting shit. Beautiful in a mystical way, aswell.
Inferences, Inferences, Inferences.

Crop circles? You should be flogged for that. As far as electrical impulses goes--what happens when you pull the plug on a light bulb, bub? No electricity! Tada!
I think there's aliens somewhere and I think there's spirits, but I'm not sure if I'd call them ghosts in the traditional sense.

Aliens, yes. Alien HUMANOIDES, probably not.
Alien as in someone who can comunicate with us, kill us, or even find us, is just not probable.
As for ghosts, I don't think so. Maybe that theory is right, that our matter just turns into something else, but I doubt it would turn into a near invisble, insanely evil version of you.

Aliens, well I personally think there could be aliens on other planets but just didn't bother coming in contact with us. I just don't think about it or really give a shit. Ghosts? I'm on the line about that, sometimes I believe it, one time I was positive they were real but now I'm not sure and again, couldn't care less.

Yeah, people who think aliens would look like the little skinny bodied, giant headed green/grey freaks have a narrow view of how many different variations life can take hold of. But even if we found like....plankton on any celestial body other than earth, it would be the biggest fucking news story/scientific discovery of modern times.

As for ghost and energy conservation laws... energy/mass conversion is a complicated subject so don't try to use that angle, although it is a tempting. I have a unbased opinion that one can leave a ghost/emotional impression on surrounding material without having to die. I like to think that any intense emotion has a chance to leave an impression/ghost in the surrounding material of area. I think I can feel those ghost empressions sometimes in places, but I'm a rational, logical, factual, and scientific person so I put the experiences on the reserve burner in the back of my mind. I keep everything in consideration but I also like to keep things definitive and objective. We know so little about the secrets of the relationship between of energy and mass but who knows ( I do keep up with modern research and publications ). The deeper physical laws and principles of the universe become even more of a complete mystery the more we learn.
I don't like to get involved with the debates and brain pickings that take place here at Metaltabs. I come here to relax and put those thoughts aside for a while.
As for alien being defined as a propagating organic species outside the atmosphere of Earth? As Bia stated, that is nearly a mathmatically certanty but we might never know for sure. I think we have a better chance to kill ourselves as a spicies before a possible advanced species would make contact with a hostile, less advanced, paranoid life form like us. I bet lots of aliens are wondering if we exist at this very moment.
I will give them the gift of METAL MUSIC!

I wonder if an alien has been wondering space and run into some human debris? Like, a shuttle explosion or a metal compound only found here?
Or if they do discover us, and learn of our violent history? We have after all had 2 world wars (Almost in a row), a large portion of the population is starving or getting sick... Maybe they just don't want to bother talking to us cause they think we're inter-galactic dickheads?

Do you know how many redneck dickheads with shotguns would make a hunting season for alien invaders out of a alien life wanting to make a peaceful first contact?

Ok, lights, power surge, electrical wires are failing, someone accidentally bumped a wall or something and the connection got fucked, anything really.
Shit floating, your high, crazy, or a liar. Unless its something small, then it could be wind or something.
Doors closing, draft, pressure in the room versus pressure outside (when window is open), or someone closed it and you didn't see them.

You're really bad at convincing haha. I mean the light thing could be possible but c'mon, you were just stumbling along with the rest. Wind can't fucking pick something up. it can blow it away, and for the door thing, people have had counts of it opening and slamming, not wind. A strong gust could slam it but the person would catch on that it was the wind, and for the opening matter, wind couldn't do that.

Really now, you know I work for the US govenment and have been to these so called top secret sites. I have been to places that don't even show up on maps or satellite photos, and I'm not talking about the Area 51 bullshit either. Thats how I know. I don't want to give details because even a little info in the wrong hands can turn into a bad thing, but even the most secret of places are filled and employ real life people like you and me that know better than to compromise. Thats how I know. I will not ever post it online no matter how drunk I get.

I'm sorry friend but shit doesnt just float.....defy gravity.
If it ever REALLY did...we'd ALL know about it....there's no mistake about that.
He was correct saying either you're high...or simply mistaken....a liar (which I dont think you are) or....the most likely....someone was fucking with you.

Yup, not within a strong gravitional field without an equally opposing force, but natural levitation consist of the pinnacle moment just before an object is again overwhelmed by the attractive force of a massive celestial body.

In my opinion, if I can see it, feel it, hear it (sometimes), and smell it (sometimes), then I have no doubt in my mind it exists. So my choice would be aliens, because I have a better chance of seeing and touching (not that I would after seeing "Alien" and it's sequels ) an alien than I would a ghost.
Just my belief.

Ghosts? No.
Aliens? Yes.
The thing to consider with another alien species is the distances and timescales involved. Our universe is estimated to be 13 billion years old which makes the radius of the visible universe a mind boggling 76,306,276,800,000,000,000,000 miles (roughly 76,000 million million million miles). So the chances are heavily weighted towards an alien race existing, but millions and millions of light years away. What this means is that even if we could resolve an image of an alien planet that far away we still wouldn't see evidence of their existence since the image we would see would be millions and millions of years old (assuming that the alien race is at the same point of evolution as ourselves).
The chances of aliens contacting us are, however, very slim. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second so in a year it will travel 5,869,713,600,000 miles which is roughly 65,000 times the distance from the Earth to the Sun. The nearest star to the Earth is Proxima Centauri which is a mere 4.2 light years away. That is to say it would take a photon of light 4.2 years to get there. Bear in mind that it takes a man made rocket launched from Earth 9 months just to reach Mars which, on average, has a shortest distance from Earth of 48 million miles. This is brought in to perspective by considering that a photon would cover this distance in roughly 4 minutes.
When you consider these distances (even our galaxy, the Milkyway, is 90,000 light years across) it is a nigh on impossibility that an alien civilisation could develop a method of traversing even across our own galaxy nevermind inter-galactic travel.

Mm. You can count on, that when the days of interstellar travel is upon us, it will involve dimension analysis mathematics (do you call it that in English too?) talk about shifting your angle on time by ninety degrees, hundreds of blabbering wrecks in asylums and a bunch of equations specially designed to LEVITATE your brain out of your ass.

I was reading somewhere that radio waves from normal radio stations beam in to outer space, so we are making enough noise for aliens to hear us, however, the very first ever radio broadcasts by man would have only reached Jupiter by now!

Yeah, it all looks very suspious from the outside but in reality there is nothing all that interesting happening. No aliens, no alien spacecraft, and no cryo frozen mutant zombie bio weapons either. Normally rumors get started by people that have nothing better to do than think about what might be happening. They want to believe that something super secret and serious is going on so thier imagenation makes up some really extreme ideal. I used to wonder myself but I got a big let down once I seen for myself. The only thing super cool is how secure these big nothings are kept secret so it just seems like there must be something happening.
Lol, so I guess the big secret is that there isn't any real secret. What you see is what you get. There are more interesting things happening at university research labs. For exsample. Thats why it is so funny when I hear about these people that spend weeks living outside Area 51 trying to "learn what is really happening". I've heard these people say that aircraft testing is just a cover for the base and at night they see strange things flying in the air. If it looks like that is whats going on then that is more than likely whats really happening there. Where is the illusion? That place does test exsperimental aircraft designs at night so the wrong people don't see, thats no big secret. It was put there away from people so that if something does go wrong ( like it does with exsperimantal designs ) and the jet crashes it is not likely to hurt anyone and it can be recovered quickly.

MIT does some intense research in boston, ive read some articles on how they are working on light refracting tech and all sorts of sci-fi stuff. dont know if they are just hyping stuff for funding or what.
you can see area 51 on google earth,a very expensive sandbox.
we do have black ops and various technology classified that probably runs thru there. thats about it

I always figured yep....those are the places where the stealth was first developed and whatnot.....and even now things are being built and tested that we wont hear about for years.
I think the gov loves the UFO shit....great diversion from the simple reality of building some badass and brutal weapons.

Yeah, but Souli' has secret clearances and he's only allowed to disclose certain things. That's just the way it should be.

the U.S. goverment might be hiding aliens in their basements..or not..
but i'd bet a million rupees that any government that finds any extraterestial biologics or technology, they'd shure as hell keep it for themselves.

In U.S. Dollars, 1 million rupees is worth about $10. Its a real form of currency in India or some country around there i think.

you know most UFO literature is about sex, right?
its all about intergalatic humping
they cloak that shit with theories about half-breed mutants being bred for cheap labor in some intergalactic slave cartel or some shit. i did a big public presentaion about UFO literature in school and read alot of different books, i even drew what they look like on the big board.
aliens are omnipotent
they travel many eons and utilize amazing technology and mental powers
we are being forced to have sex with them
aliens arent really interested in anything beyond fucking
i read alot whitney striber, hes like the g-rated disney version and also claims to be psychic and can levitate and shit. hes an 80s "new age" hack and he is presently giving enviromentalism a bad name. he was the guy behind that natural disaster movie where global warming pwns the earth in a week, i forget the name.

Well, I know there's some pretty darn freaky things in my basement when I go down there.
History Channel has something on about the original War of the Worlds broadcast right now.

I'll admit I want some super crazy alien shit to be going down just because I've watched the video for Hangar 18 a little too much I guess....

Hey I'm just thankful in this current climate I've got a dentist so I'm non too fussed if the reading material is akin to that in the archives at the Natural History museum! Yep it was pretty old but not as old as the Woman's Weekly I found from 1989!!! You wouldn't believe how big and clumbsy panty liners were in those days!!!
